I have found one reason why we were soooo lucky to have seen an original 5 qts. oil tag. I put mine on yesterday, going to a show tomorrow, and started the engine to let it run a bit. WOW, the fan created so much air turbulence, I scurried around and shut it off immediately. I would say the tags got shredded by the engine fan air. They could not have lasted very long. "Bill"!

Hello BRODY. You doing good??? Hope so.
Yes, I did get the tag from John, BUT, after I did we discovered the tag is 1 1/4 inch in diameter, not 1 inch like I have now, sooo, he is in the process of resizing the tag for correctness. When he gets it, I WILL let everyone know. I promise. You take care. Bill

Working in a plant was a lousy job in the 60s. Even today with the spotless, shiny plants (like Ford and others have) it is still a back-breaking job.

So please give the old 60s-70s plant production workers a bit of a break, they deserved it.

That being said, the original sin was probably the vendor for the dip stick was probably late getting parts as they assumed a very low volume deal and when the GTO took off they were late getting parts to the plant.

A CAR ALWAYS GOES DOWN THE LINE (EVEN WITH THE WRONG PART ON IT) and gets fixed later so the line workers were using what they were given probably.

Tom V.

ps I have always been an engineer so never actually worked in a plant but I am sure Keith Seymore can tell you what I posted is true.

HI BRODY. You referring to the gasket on the PCV valve??? I know that Scott and Jim both had red ones on their 65's. The ones I've pulled from the box with the valve are black. I believe John has the black ones. "Bill"!
Still got your 64???

Here is my tag. Quality is GREAT!!!

Hey Brody. Yes, that is the new, correct one. 1 1/4 dia., as the first one was 1 inch. John is waiting to hear from tarheeltempest to make sure the color is correct. They will be available real soon!!! You take care. "Bill"!
