Great story. Congrats on getting the car and good luck with the restoration to original specs. Can't argue with Triple Black!!

Based on the hair styles and cars in the background, here is a picture of the car in the mid to late 70's.
Looks like a BB Chevy oil pan hanging underneath.

I just love that look Great stance, not all psychedelic like some of the other street machines from that era with panel paint jobs and murals. Will be a ver y cool looking ride whether you put it back to stock or go for the day 2 look. Get her bacl on the road and enjoy it!

Cable drive tach, skinny daisys on the front- L-88! Very stout piece. Was the tunnel cut out for a vertigate shifter ? Probably not to many that could outrun him- you lived in a cool neighborhood- mine was like that also growing up. That lady is probably saying-This is the car that wakes us up at night- its pretty, lol

He did have a vertigate shifter, back in the day he ran a Doug Nash 5 speed with the L88.

Here are a few more pictures of the Judge. It had a 9" Ford and leaf springs when I first got it, there was a hole in the floor big enough to drop the 6 speed in from the top. When they converted the car to the leaf spring set up, they did it in a way that it could be put back to original. Well maybe not the floor! lol I good friend of both Mark and myself that did the conversion agreed to come out of retirement to put the original stuff back in the car.

Car came with a fiberglass hood cut out for a tunnel ram and 2-4bbl. carbs and a fiberglass nose. My buddy, Bob Kraft (Kraft's Body Shop in Columbus, Ohio) who did the floor, also painted the factory hood and nose.

Very cool story and pictures. Thanks for sharing! I finally got the car I dreamed of as a kid too, but not "the" car like you did. I can't even imagine what an awesome feeling that would be.

Love the slideshow, impressive work so far! When you are finished with the restoration, that Judge is is going to be THE car at any car show or cruise-in you go to!

Relating: Sure like my 68 GTO Starlight Black with Vinyl top, & soon to be 4-speed again.

Someone said to me recently "Black looks the best until it starts looking ugly." I said huh & shrugged HIS

Greg,

I will keep you updated, thanks again for sending the measurements and pictures of the floor with the 4 speed opening.

Here is an example of the members going out of their way to help other members. I seen his restoration project and noticed how well he was documenting the build so I decided to private message him about getting a few measurements and additional pictures to help in my floor project. He not only took several measurements and photos, but offered to trace the floor opening on paper and send it to me.

John

GR8 story.
Reminds me of being 8yrs old with all of the then new 1969s running the streets & strips, and the launch of Hot Wheels in '68 spawned every Gearhead kid's dream of having a 1:1 scale version -just like yours!

Kudos to you for the Mega points earned for persistence, patience, & perseverance!

Tip: To upload multiple images on same post
- at the "Manage Attachments" option simple continue adding additional (IIRC up to 5) at the same place - exactly as you've added each single image.
