Curious about the color difference between pre-paint and now. I can see that it's L code Marina Turquoise but looks to have been K code Reef Turquoise in the before pics. Is that just a tinted primer/sealer that makes it look that way or what?
Paint looks great!

Tinted primer sealer. Sanding and polishing clear coat today. Anxious to see the final look.

Car pretty much complete and sitting at the GoodGuys show in Des Moines. Lots of positive comments especially about the Marina Turquoise paint. Many could not believe that it was a 1966 factory color.

Had a friend in high school that had a '66 Chevelle the same color. Looks even better on a Pontiac.

Beautiful car!

I have a marina turquoise 66 GTO and have had many discussions at car shows about it "not being a factory color". Best 66 color available in my opinion.

My dad bought a 66 GTO in this color brand new and had red fender liners added along with the red line tires. Stunning combination.

When Chevy used the paint color it was Tropic Turquoise. Buick also used it under a different name. It was only used on 1966 models.

That is the stock color for my 67 Le Mans. I am undecided as to if I am going to put it back that color or if I will go with a color that was used in the 66 Chevelles, Aztec Bronze. I have changed out my interior to all black, so I can go either way. Your 66 looks awesome!

I had a Marina Turquoise 66 GTO back in 1970. Great color if it's on the outside. Interior was all turquois and it was a bit much for the eyes. Especially when the only other color was the dash's wood veneer.

Tiger, think about going with the 66 Martinique Bronze like Old Blue 66 has. It's not often seen and is gorgeous. My 66 was Martinique Bronze fr4om the factory.... then the 2nd owner got ahold of it and went with red and airbrushed flames.

Why would I want to change the color on an original, numbers matching, PHS documented, tri power, 4 speed car? Your comment appreciated but changing the color would significantly lower the value of this car.

Sorry about that but that post was to be deleted and I couldn't do it. I realize yours is PHS'd and all that.

I think Gary was directing that comment to 'tiger13' since he was debating between Gold and the original Mariner Turquoise.
Personally, I like the Mariner Turquoise so much that I debated painting my '68 that color at one time. With a Turquoise interior, there aren't many options.

I'm glad that my interior is black. By the way, I was able to use the complete original interior except the carpet. The vinyl that GM used in these cars was pretty durable.

That too Greg. LOL

DSM, I had an all original Turquoise 66 interior in my 1st GTO with the Mariner Turquoise exterior. As I've said before it was too much turquoise for me. If I had it right now today, I'd probably have a Parchment interior in it. Or some way to have a lesser amount of Turquoise. Black interior is good but it gets downright hot in the summer.

The Marina Turquoise exterior looks really good with a parchment interior. Wish mine would have been ordered with that combination but, like previously stated, I decided not to make any color chamges on this original car.

DSM, did you see Jim Mattison's Mariner '67 RA GTO on Velocity TV the other night? Like yours except with a black vinyl top.
By the way Gary, my '68 is Turquoise with a Turquoise interior and I really like it. I like several different versions of the 'Monochrome' cars...That is, cars with color matched interior and exterior. Nothing looks more '60s than a Turquoise car, Warwick Blue or an Alpine Blue car with matching interior. Car makers just don't do that any more.

Yes I did. Very nice car. It's always good to see our GTOs getting recognition on the various automotive shows. With the current interest in the '60s and early 70's factory muscle cars, I think the next few years will be a lot of fun. Our cars are getting harder to find. How many times has someone come up to you and your car and told you a personal story about the one they used to have and how they wish they had never let it get away? I'm sure it has happened often. That's when all of our hard work makes us feel really good. LET THE GOOD TIMES KEEP ROLLING!
