If you want to see a beautifully integrated roll cage in a street/strip car that still LOOKS like a show car, take a look at Jay DeLaigle's (aka 1qikta)'74 Trans Am.

i Know you hate to put a bar in it, but, i did it to mine(sometimes wish i woulda left it stock, engine and all) ... but, when i mat it, it feels like a different car... You can have one done, that will look good and hardly be noticeable... id go with chrome moly... i wish i would've! Nice ride!

I see you race at Gainesville, do you know Derek Putnam? He races a green 69' Nova there. Dan Newman did his bar, it's excellent. I know G'ville is quite strict, my old 2000 Z28 ran 10.7-10.8 at OSW and Desoto... never a peep out of them for not having a bar. I never chanced it at PBIR or Gainesville.

carpoor, not sure when Curtis might respond to your question so the 'ole man' will step up. Yes, we do know Derek and he does have a very sharp Nova. We will definitely talk to him about his roll bar install. In 2008 Derek ran a feature story in FSC Mag called 'No Trailer Required', and he included Curtis' Bird in the group of cars. Also used Curtis' car in the NPD Firebird catalog, 2011 edition, to show American Racing wheels. Not sure if it is in the newer catalog or not. Anyway, a little free pr is kinda nice.

Small world. I met Derek when I worked with him many moons ago. He is an all around great guy. I can call or text him pretty much any time, and he always does his best to help me. He is truly an asset to the hobby.

Carpoor,
Sorry for the slow repsonse. Meant to hop on sooner. When I finally did...the site was down.

You are right. Derek is a solid guy. Does a heck of a job each year with the car shows at Silver Springs.
