yes, that is true, on a coupe you would have white to match the headliner. As to the window cranks, those 'orange' ones are probably old clear ones which are replacements. The originals would have been white. Sounds like someone dyed the seats. Getting the interior pieces to match is impossible since the various plastics and vinyls that were used were of different characteristics. Look at survivor cars and you will see that the kicks, panels, seats, dash pad, console, headliner etc are all of the same 'color family' but never really match perfectly! My friend has a red gut on his 68 Firebird coupe- all original. What a mish mash of shades of red!
So despite what the anal community (historical revisionists who idealize their cars and dream the fairy tales of their minds that were taught to them by knowitalls) tries to get you to believe, the cars were not perfect, and the interior components just barely matched up in color appearance. The chemical composition of the vinyl on the seats and the plastic on the kick panels, the plastic window knobs, and the vinyl on the door panels and the plastic that covers the seat hinge etc- ALL ARE DIFFERENT and reflect light back at your eyes in a different way. Furthermore these various pieces were made by different vendors in different plants under contract to GM. It was 'close enough' in many ways. There is no Pantone Matching System that could equalize the shades and color content between the various types of materials. This is not offset printing being done on the same media.
Please do not let it bother you that they are not perfectly matched.
Let it bother someone else.
Parchment is the best choice on the ragtop. It is cooler and it will make you happier. Good luck.
