Thanks for posting the pic of your 'Plate, Radio Opening Cover' Hakansan. Does the parts book show any aluminum overlay trim to cover this plate? looks like you have a very nice car and very desirable too! Enjoy it!

jimwankers,

thanks for the kind words about my car. I´m enjoying it to much.... I take it for a ride whenever the wheater is good.
Looked in the book again it says nothing about any "overlay" or something like that.

hakansan, Beautiful car. '70 GTO with optional stripe that was optional that year. There was a red one here somewhere with the same stripe.

Here are pictures of a radio delete plate I removed from a 1970 LeMans last weekend. When I removed the dash to retrieve the dash bezel the car had a front speaker even without a radio. I guess the factory needed something to plug the hole in the dash...

Did you happen to notice if the 70 Lemans had the windshield antennae also?

Yes, the car did have a windshield antenna and it appeared to be an original LOF windshield. Even though a radio was not optioned on a car the dealer would have an easy install with the speaker and antenna already in place from the factory.

That car probably had the "radio accommodation package" option ordered on it.
But it never got accommodated.

Just my 2 cents - I know 69 is different than 70 but the process is the same. in 69 it is a seperate uncut plastic piece with the wood grain insert on the entire piece with no hole in it. I have seen many make radio plates into radio delete by putting a sperate plate over the radio hole and some years did this but i have to think that in 69 if it was a solid plate it would be the same in 70 since the bezel is the same. I would think the insert would be a solid one piece. I have only seen 2 real 69 plates in 22 years and have never seen an actual 70-72 true radio delete car.

Strict70 - If you need a plate for your car I'd sell the one pictured above.
