Back to tire choices, what about the Pro-Trac front runner 215/75-15 from Coker tire?
They are listed at 27.8" tall and for rims 3.5- 5.5" wide. The ply rating (4 or 8?)is not listed but rated at 1732# @32psi.

I've witnessed the result of one of the 165 series tires wreck a 135 mph car. The owner/ driver said that it should be ok for just a couple seconds above the rating. He now can't race and has one less arm from the injures suffered by the accident on the track. Is it worth the risk? Get front runners designed for this drag race thing we like doing. BTW, when his tire came apart, it was the second pass with them. The tire on the right front seperated just past the finish line. Used to be a beautiful purple 67 SS Chevelle. Just wadded up metal now.

Redbird, the MT Sportsman 1573 8-ply is a bias tire. The SR 4-ply is a radial.

My buddy with his new 63 Lemans is wanting some cheap tire on the front, maybe even an old tire from one of his other projects. It's a low 10 car once its tuned. Hope I can convince him otherwise to use some GOOD tires.
