They were both all bundled up when I got there. Ken had his 1 piece driving suit on but took it off and was saying something about the stiching for the waist being to high? LOL. Jim

"Politics in racing sux...."

Yes, here in Texas as well. Last year the Texas True 10.5 group allowed John's(punisher1 here on PY) Pontiac engine to race under the "small-block" weight class, not this year. John went to 7 finals last year and won 5 races.... after that for this coming season they changed the rules and bumped him up to a big-block weight ! His best ET last season was 5.21 or 5.23, can't remember for sure.

As am I...when you have 3 other Chevies on there between 350 and 406 cubes, with two of them obviously being of the "small block" family, the 454 and 468 are obviously "big". It's all in context.

Ken took off the vacuum pump belt and removed his air pan and went 6.518 in 2nd qualifing round. Went 6.522 in final qualifying round into a light headwind. There were only 2 cars faster than him that ran a 6.50 in the final round. Everyone else was too fast or slowed .030 or more. So for Ken to have only slowed .004 should put him right where he needs to be tomorrow. Good luck Ken. Good to see you and Karen. Jim Zeek

Jim,

I wish you would have let me know you were coming into town, I'm 20 minutes from the track. We were cooking ribeyes last night and had enough for you and your family and still could have had enough for the Keefers. Heck, we would have provided limo service from the track and back, ask Ken, done it before.

Glad to hear you made it down though. We'll be at the track tomorrow shooting pictures and pulling for Ken and Tony.

What are the restrictions to this 6.50 index, if any besides no electronics?

Update #2: He made it down to 6 cars and had the other guy on the tree and ran a 6.499 to the other guys 6.500.

He lost by a thousandth!

At least he got some $$$.

And he didn't break anything!

That was a close race. We missed it by 30 seconds but we all heard the announcer say that Keefer took the win. Talking to Ken later he said he saw the win light in his lane. When Ken didn't show up for the next 6.500 elimination we found out that he lost by .001. The 6.50 class was like that all day, very close racing.

We all told Ken not to go the the bathroom.
