Central Virginia Machine is the BEST.
They did mine and now having a 11.30 @ 120 in a street driven car with wipers tilt wheel and heat and a am fm cd and power disc speaks for its self . If Santa would of brought me caltracks it just might get to the high 10s with no nos but I'll have to wait. I can't believe it does it with a 3.55 gear guess the head work paid off. Thanks to Jim . Ron, I was at Norwalk this year...
I do hope to have the car there in 08, but like always it depends on the funds... And the first three pounds are on me... |

Thanks for the mention Mysticmissle, but I`am not on the list, although theres one guy on the list who shouldn`t be their as it seems he likes to rock out so to speak while he polishes your heads and then charges you for porting!

Butler's head work has always made me go fast...Stock block 474 with wide ports ran 9.29 in a 3400lb car with stock suspension. Everyone has there own opinion..

Pleased with the flow and performance of my 310 cfm CNC KRE E heads. Not pleased with the CNC shavings that poured out of every coolant hole.
But a local guy here had shavings in his Butler ported E heads too.

Take a look at the SD Performance rocker shaft wide ports. What a great set of heads for a very hard to beat price.

As far as who to pay to do some porting, everyone has their favorite but I would pick the specialist that lives closest just for convenience. Any machine shop work for that matter. FWIW, I have heads done by Butler, SD, and KRE. All of them are great. Last edited by BVR421; 12-31-2007 at 07:52 PM. |

Guess you gotta look and see who's heads make the most power... unless you don;t care. Then go with the most popular. BES has the Highest HP Pontiac's. Jeff's Butler Wide Port combo is the Highest HP off-the-shelf, stock Block motor I know of. Lots of People Love SD but I am not aware of anyone making unusual horse power with their combo's. Taking a poll may not get you the best Head porter. Do your home work!

Thanks to all have responded!! I really appreciate everyone's opinion and experiences shared. I will let you know how it turns out, decided on Butler(for a variety of reasons, so far it has been going very well. The combo will likely be a 461 rotating assembly, 315CFM+ E-Heads, Hyd. Roller, and victor with doug's headers, will know for sure this weds. Main goal was to have a nice pontiac street/strip motor that can run on pump gas and have fun at the track with.
