Unfortunately A body stuff won't cut it..I've checked into that before.
Thanks to all involved with getting those R.A.R.E. part pics on here. Are those bronze bushings in the uppers?

Those are cool.
I saw the rear Kit on RARE's site. quite the price for the swaybar kit. it is a fair price though i think. not for me though, i'm Canadian, and our dollar stinks!

PMT Fabrication has a better deal. They have adjustable upper rear links.

I got adjustable upper rears from RARE, just have to ask them. Pat

Take a look at the difference in the construction of the RARE units verses the PMT units. Considering I'll have a little over 500hp and nearly 600 ft/lbs of torque, I'll be installing the PMT units in my Cat.

about the construction quality of PMT Versus RARE I went to the PMT website and looked at the rear arms., then looked the RARE website...First thing I noticed was that PMT uppers were adjustable, and the ones shown on RARES' were not...something seemed wrong, as I remembered the ones I'd bought from RARE were. So I looked at mine, sure enough they were adjustable with a spherical ball end. The uppers will be under tension, so the threads and ball ends and the relatively small diameter concept is not a concern...as for the lowers...
Inch-and-a-half tubular, .120 dia...comes with bracing brackets...has an integrated 1" sway bar designed for them.. Both products will be overkill at your power and weight, Hoosier, which is about the same power and weight that I'm at..I'd take tubular over box-section any day. |

I think it is great that there are options!!!!
That being said, it is nice that Ram Air has a sway bar option, but guessing one could figure something with the PMT?? I did not see that on their site. The 3rd photo upload is of the Ram Air A-Body upper. Guessing the B-Body is built the same??

Similar, but not exact. The bracket end on the B body is a beefy C-section single piece, with the "tube" butt-welded to it. Looks like the A body bracket may be made of two pieces welded to the sides of the 'tube' I like the beefiness of the B body bracket better, but the A body version has more weld area.
Not shown in the picture on the RARE rear kit are the tubular braces that brace between the right and left upper and lower frame mount locations. |

I bought mine so long ago now, I don't even know where the paperwork is. I'm sure PMT would do it right, but when drilling for a sway bar, the bolt holes should actually be tubes welded through the bars, so as not to crush the bars when tightening down. Pretty basic stuff there, I guess.
What Brad said sounds good, the bar would then be "cut in half" midpoint being the diff...makes for a stiffer sway bar. Clamps at the diff? Sounds a little messy... All of the B body front pics on here are of mine. Were you interested in more? |
