I would actually be very interested in reproducing the front air dam on the black GA. That looks really good. I do know some fiberglass people, but I know it will be VERY expensive to do it.

I agree, I would like the have the front air dam, and rear spoiler of the Black "Nascar Grand Am" for my car as well. I will be color matching the rear bumper on mine to the car and doing a Can Am hood coversion as well. The air dam and rear spoiler would give it a really nice look.......

I'm making a black version of the FormX from my 75 GA... although it has 73 front sheetmetal... so FrankenPontiac. I've taken a 77 Firebird rear spoiler and built new sides - just can't get the seam or the angles right side to side. Someone or here had a 74 GA with a spoiler from a Skylark GS that looks better than what I have done (

build more than one... make your money back...) I have a shell of a rear spoiler for my 75 Grand Am - it's a mess. I can't get left/right cap overs to match and I have a lot of gap on tips towards body curve.

Well I did it, I built a rear spoiler for the GTO, the formula x is here. After several tries I went with this one. I totally made the commitment when I put the hammer to the punch for the hole in the rear quarter, no turning back now. Drilled two holes in each quarter for the winglets and six in the trunk for the main section. Two sided tap didn’t trust it with wind pressures while driving. It’s a little heavy heavy being made from steel. Tried foam for a fibreglass one but it kept breaking at the wing tips while trying to shape it, so I gave up and went with metal. Although I did go with the tape for a foam seal between the spoiler and body.
After the body work and primer several coats and lots of blocking , I decide to paint it myself. Got the same paint from the body shop who painted the car. I went with a single stage urethane 3 coats and 3 coats of clear on top of that. Wet sanded and polished. After installation I decide to get the Formula X decal made, just for the rear, it’s a lot smaller than the ones on the prototype didn’t want it that big, but I do have some big ones as well for the garage. |

WOW! That is fantastic!! Great work. Looking at the details it looks like that was a lot of work. The fit and finish are better than good. You said it was metal, I would almost think you could use the finished product as a mold to reproduce them in 'glass.

That is a work of art. If I still owned a 1973 GTO/Grand Am, I'd definitely add that. It really looks like it is supposed to be there.
