Hey what ever happened with the GT-37? Did you get the PHS? Curious to see how it was originally equipped.

Congratulations! You have a 400-4bbl 4-speed GT-37!
According to Eric White's book: The engine sales code should be 34L, not 34K. From your fax, can you read the price for the transmission? 35E would cost $195.36 35G would cost $237.60 You have such a cool car on your hands, in Canyon Copper to boot. |

according to the customs form, neither of those prices corespond to the trans, they have it listed as a $151.70 option and the engine code is very readable and it is 34K, hopefully the rest of the package will answer the questions

In my pile of GT-37 literature I found that the L78 400-4bbl is in fact code 34K.
Maybe a typo in Eric's book? Strange that you said your car had rocker panel moldings (724), but they aren't listed on your PHS. Maybe they were added later. Anyway, that's a sweet car! What are your plans for it? |

Sweet cars...I luv 'em! The 400/4 speed is killer! Don't put too much stock into PHS. I'll get killed for this but I know for a fact that they are NOT infallible. My '69 GTO ragtop was a verified numbers matching one owner two barrel car but PHS had it listed as a YS car! Also had the firewall grommets for hide-aways which it didn't have. I believe the order was altered on the line, but purely a guess on my part. Other sources listed car as one of 215 or one of 216...depending on source. Just saying....looks like you got the real deal and I wouldn't concern myself with the rocker moldings not being listed. Stranger things have happened. Nice ride. Do her proud! Ron

Sweet project, 400-4spd, & like the color. Envious that you have all vinyl interior... don't have to deal with a parody cloth/vinyl seat restoration, much easier to correctly restore the all vinyl seats.
As you prob have figured out, not many factory 400 4spd GT-37s have survived. Out of 572 400 4bbl 1971 & 71 1/2's built, I've long estimated 250 or so were 400 automatic cars, with the remaining 322 (or so) being divided between the base transmission HD 3 spd cars & the cars ordered with M20 or M22's. The exact number produced will never be known, just basing the estimates of trans useage on what I've compiled in nearly 20 years of research, the GT-37 survey, & many conversations with previous owners. Wondering about the rocker moldings being original installed or not, when the fenders come off during resto process, the fender date codes are stamped on the flanged metal area near the parking lights. Can also look for evidence at the bottom of the fender of the factory rectangular hole & plastic grommet that the front screw attaches through the rocker molding. Original dated fenders & the factory stamped hole... chances are the rocker moldings were factory installed. |

When i took the fenders and rocker mouldings off it was quite obvious that the mouldings were a factory installed option, cause as a pretty good bodyman i dont know anyone that can weld clip studs on with a stud spotter that perfect. The document i got was only some import papers for customs clearance, hopefully the full package will clear the air.
As for what i plan to do with the car, i have sold it twice in the past and it always came back so maybe it is an omen that i should sell my mopar collection and restore it. Does anyone have any idea what a car like this would be worth when restored, it is numbers match only thing im not sure of is when i bought the car it had an open rear end, but it went out in a blaze of glory smokin off a set of N50s, so i found a clutch plate posi from a 69 Gutlass and stuffed it in, it still has original gear set. So anyone wanna buy a 70 SuperBee? Just kiddin guys, dont kick me out. |

CT Goat,
The '71 official production sheets I have that Fred Simmonds put together (around '89) only shows the 572 total for '71 400 4 bbl production. You may have a newer version. Mind sharing a copy? Thanks ![]() |

One of mine is a lucerne blue on black 400/4bbl black bench car with drip moldings, carpet and PS from the factory. I liked the color combo so I bought it, restored it a few years ago, but have not had it out a whole lot due to way too much travel/time away from home. Mark

I have this one which is from a while ago and I will try to attach it here, never done that before. I built this car with some outside Ideas, changed the rally II to 15 inch steel with poverty caps and currently running a loaner 455 ho from one of my other cars and an M-22 other than that fairly correct. I saw no evidence of any stripes on the cars paint, not sure what the story with that is. Mark
