Forgive me. I looked at that "boosted" thread, not a likely solution, many reasons..and price was not near reasonable (for using as a non turbo)

So The car is parked. I'm not happy. The only other engine I have is a SBC. It may end up going in there because who knows when Ram Air Restorations will ever get the manifolds that I need. It's unfortunate that I didn't know about the challenges of the round port heads before we bought this engine.
Did you ever ask if the RA manifolds will work with a column shift car?

Change to a cable shifter on the floor?

In the late 80's I ran across a fellow in DFW area that had installed RA2 heads & production A-body roundport manifolds onto a 428 into a '65 GTO. There were no thoughts of laser cut motor stand spacers back then.

The clearance was created by notching the top rear of the crossmember with a 4 1/2" angle grinder, then he followed up with welding two small pieces of plate steel at an angle downwards into the "slot". Believe it was only on one side, the drivers side. Will be moving my frame stack once it cools off & I'm going to investigate this further

You could also just get a Lokar column shift cable adapter to get around the headers. We modified the collector and column shift linkage once to do the same thing. Either way way doable.

I had the same thought. Get Doug's headers delivered to your doorstep in 5-7 business days, convert to floor shift or use Lokar adapter and be done with it. If OP wants to install manifolds later if/when they become available, that's always an option down the road.

Today, I saw an ad for Sanderson headers, shorty headers.
They make “D” and round port versions. Although $750.00
