Dog dishes and RWL? Actually, never liked RWL on anything. Blackwalls just look so much tougher.

Steelies,Dog Dishes, and Black Walls.Thats the only way to go.I have them on My Formula.Lloyd I had sent you a couple of picture's of that.I would post them except I do not know how to down size my pictures to fit this format.I am currently in the process now of putting them on my 72 GTO.I have the Steel Wheel's,I have the correct NOS Dog Dishes, now I'm waiting until spring to buy the Tire's.I'm putting Drag Radial's on the rear for fun...

I dont mind the period correct bias ply RWL tires really, especially the small letter polyglass GT's or the wide-ovals,but there is no way I would use modern RWL radial tires, the lettering just does'nt look "right" to me,JMO.
But really, just how many folks are running those period correct bias ply tires these days... I also agree the redlines look Ok too. See above comment. |

I think the RWLs make them look a little meaner. I like them either way, but I'm going to go with RWLs on my '65. JMHO.

A guy in our club is running Tiger Gold steelies with BW on his TG 65, very cool IMO without the dishes.

Yeah, that is one nice Chevelle.
I like the B-Man solution of steelies with a painted red line. I wonder if I could get a local shop to fab up some custom steelies in 17". Lloyd, you know of any good local shop capable of this type of fabrication?

B-Man, how did you describe the specs to Stockton Wheel? 5 X 4.75 with 4.5 BS or what?
P.S. I promise to keep it East of the Rockies.. Deal?

I'm running 235/45s all around, 245/45s should work in the rear but may be a bit too big up front. That extra 1/4" to tuck them in should make 245/45s a good fit all around, with the possibility of running 255/45s out back. You might give http://earlywheel.com/ a try, just recently bought out by a true hot rodder and might be able to take care of you better. They recently expanded their choices, 15" used to be the biggest steel wheels they'd do. These wheels are built off of used 15" GM centers, but extra material must be welded to the outside of the wheel center to make them fit inside of a 17" wheel. I think the centers were 13.1" O.D. and the rims were 13.4" I.D. Good luck! Bart |

Cool thread...B-man that car is sweet...
I plan on painting my car black and running steelies with dogdish hubcaps and either a redline tire or a red pinstripe on the steelies...I dig that look... The pic below is not a LeMans but it is something to the effect of what I am trying to achieve...I don't like the cowl hood I was thinking along the lines of putting some dual scoops like the first generation Firebirds maybe even a frigging hood tach...since mine will be a daily driver I don't think I will get that crazy with the rear end though...I love the sleeper look from the hubcaps and I think the redline would impart just the right touch to the car... 360 Rocket...that is exactly the look I am after...except as a 'modern' GTO...very cool car man...
