OGR, that was an option in 79. You could get them with no paint on them. But the dealer had to order them that way.
My wheel is painted. Maybe it's hard to tell in the pic ?
It looked brand new when I bought it. Not so much now.

That's what I figured. I've only seen Y88s in person, and late 78 Y82s that had the wrong snowflake wheels on them. So the early 78 Y82s would have wheels that look just like the Y88s right? Just double checking before I paint mine.

The 78 15x8 rims have a more defined outer lip almost to a point plus the snowflake was thinner then the 79. The 79 15x8 had a smoother outer lip rounded.

Here is my early '78 Y82 (4th week of September '77) with the correct wheels and what I recently changed them to.

Certain that 1978 Y82's were all 2nd design Hurst tops. When the Hurst tops were discontinued, and the Fisher tops were used, the RPO became Y84.

My January built 78 has the same Hurst tops as my January built 77.

Some earlier built cars were retrofitted with the 2nd design frames and weatherstrips in an effort to reduce leakage. Easy to tell the difference.
