While that's probably true, for a mild street engine I still don't think that they are that bad of a choice.

There was a set in the first engine that was I my GTO when I got it. With the original 16 heads, 268 comp cam, 3 tube headers and a performer intake and 800 Holley, it ran mid 13's with more left in it. So they can't be that bad.....

As I do remember, the 400 that I had with those pistons did run pretty hot. About 180 with no thermostat. Sitting still in traffic, about 230. No detonation problems, ran pretty strong. I sold that engine and have a 462 now, no comparison.

i have those same trw pistons in a standard bore 1966 gto with a 389 with the stock 92 heads. no detionation problems and they run 180-190 deg. in the summer .Ran good with the 3x2's.
