Hi Functionalshaker, I just sent you a PM. Are these the single panel clear decal with the letters screened on them, or individual cut letters?

Here's something interesting that can go into the heading... 'can do better':

A member sent me a close up of the head of a reproduction hood bird. I've included a copy of the hood bird from the Trans Am I used to own.

Does anyone have a good eye and can see what's wrong?

The eye on the left is a different shape and is set back further from the beak.

Greg, working out things.
I'm going to get the decals from FunctionalShaker.
Waiting on my '73 orange nose bird/'74-8 Formula tail bird.
Now, if mscicluna007 loans you the hood bird, you're all set in red for '73, excluding the shaker decals.

Thank you to you both. As Micheal noted, I have located an NOS large hood bird.

The letters and nose bird would be very helpful. Thank you HFR.

I do need 400 and 455 and SD-455 shaker decals.

I also need any decal in Brewster Green and Blue.

Thank you everyone. This project seems to be off to a decent start. Hopefully it won't be a year in development as the stripes was..... <-- Oops... I shouldn't have said that

At less than $20, I wonder how good these are...

Got the nose bird w/instructions (you should verify dimensions on original cars). I'll contact you before sending it. Waiting on Functional, to work out things on his end. I'll also send current PG repro tail bird.

Thank you HFR and Functionalshaker for working together to get these on loan to me.

Regarding the link to the Ebay ad, since those are new reproductions I don't want to use them as a pattern. I purchased a '72 nose bird from this vendor to compare to mine and he uses a different substrate. It's a rigid shiny mylar film instead of 3M controltac vinyl. I'm not sure why, or if the others he has are on the mylar film but that's my experience on the '72 bird from him. I prefer the 3M vinyl for sure.

Will you be doing the 77-78 SE sets?

Default 72 Bumper Bird

Just saw this on EBAY but I am sure you were covered already for these.

He's real proud of it too. Guess he doesn't know about 165th's quality repros.

The bird on the Brewster car is too close to the back edge of the hood. It doesn't line up with the shaker opening properly. The bird itself looks good though.

Yes mscicluna007, I am definitely covered when it comes to the '70~'72 nose bird and stripes. The TransAmStripes.net nose bird is exact to NOS, and sells for $40.

Of course my decals do not have yellowed clear vinyl and there is no question on the integrity of the adhesive, which are both characteristics of even the best NOS decals out there.

The NOS blue stripe kit I picked up for patterns and color match for the TransAmStripes.net products was just a bit more than the NOS nose bird offered on Ebay.

Here's a couple of pics of the TransAmStripes.net product compared to NOS. In the first picture the NOS bird is on top, and the yellowed clear is visible.

Hi Scott, the '77 - '78 sets are not in the plans for this second phase of development.

I'm going to concentrate on birds and letters in the various colors between '73 - '78.

Good catch Bob, I had forgotten about that, but you are correct, it's positioned too far back from the face of the hood. It was too beautiful to change though, at least for the time I had the car.

Here is a picture or two of the NOS nose bird I will be using for a pattern for the '73 - '78 hood bird.

Funny thing it has a part no. of 498495 on it, but it is actually part no. 500666.

I could not find 498495 in the parts book. Any information will be appreciated.
