I talked to Jim a couple of years ago at Barrett Jackson about the number of 68 Ram Air convertibles, he said that he knew of about 10 total RA I and II convertibles left. I here that the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals has really become a great show. Not too far from St. Louis either! I plan on having my RA I convertible and RA II hardtop there someday. I bought car #6 on the roll call from Chris last month.

The white convertible was supposed to be at MCACN with Rob and I but for some reason it didn't make it. I did talk with the owners brother in law "Mike" and was told that the owners name is Carl. Carl's dad purchased the car new but the original engine was gone early in the cars life. It was supposedly documented through PHS. That is about all I know.
MCACN is a GREAT SHOW!!!

I am looking for a car and or owner of a 1968 RA II GTO Hardtop Meridian Turquoise Black bench seat 4 speed car out of New Hampshire. Anyone know where it is? I have the WY Short Block (9792506) that belongs to it and would like to reunite it. Someone previously searched / ran the VIN with PHS so I am hoping it still exists. It is not on any list that I have seen of cars that have turned up. It had to of been a beautiful car in that color combo and options.

How long have you had the block. Very possible someone already ran the block VIN.
My first call would be to Alex outside of Boston, he knows who has what if it's a round port and in New England.

Wish someone would find the original block for my car and offer it for sale (at a reasonable price). That would be a good day...
I hope the car turns up so the deal can be made. Good luck! Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

I have had the block for a month but the guy I bought it from had it for 12 years in his 72 GP. He brought it back from New Hampshire in 2004 where his cousin who had passed away left it to him. He had it in a red 69 GTO back then. I doubt either ran the VIN as they just knew it as a 4 bolt block and didn't understand what it was from. I paid up for it, he was no fool but I figured it was a SR block and would be good for my project. It was covered in paint and I could not see any numbers. When I found the VIN, I had to run it through PHS. If the car or owner is out there, it would be nice to get them back together. If not, I may just use it for my car.

Update on car #18 on the list.
Replaced the floor pans, a couple of small trunk floor patches and the entire LH quarter panel. Everything else is original metal (door, fenders, cowl, rockers, braces etc). Oh yeah...also have a reproduction hood since my original has a nasty kink. 14 months into the project so far and it's finally painted. Still cutting and buffing in preparations for reassembly. Due to a mistake in the booth, the hood ended up with a bunch of dust on top of the final coat of clear. Wasnt sure it would buff out but it looks like its going to be okay. I just need to go back and wet sand with 2000-2500 and polish it again. I skipped ahead just to see if all the dust specs were sanded away so the finish is a little hazy on the hood. The hood should polish nice to match the other parts after I go over it one more time. Was hoping to have the car running in time for it's 50th birthday (May 27th) but sadly it won't be there just yet. Will pop a beer and have some cake anyway. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

Thanks Chris. I really like this color....even more than I thought I would. It has a lot of "personality". Love it!
BTW....in case anyone notices the car sitting high in the back, that is because I lifted the car in the spray booth by the frame and the rear springs got dislodged in their spring pockets. It's back to normal now. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

Seems like one of those Love It or Hate It color. My wife does not like....but it's growing on her little by little. I even caught a little glimpse of a smile on her face when she peeked at the painted car in the trailer. While not the color she would have chosen...she understands why it had to be the original color.
I happen to like the color so I am good. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

Those '60s metallics are coming back in a big way. Look mainly at the Mustangs and Mopars and to a lesser extent, the Camaros. I see a lot of Mustangs in what looks like Limelight Green.

Surprised to see this show up at local show today...
Solar Red/White/Pearl Ram Air II 4 speed convert It's a Pontiac built car. The vin was unreadable due to the paint over it. The owner is apparently out of Modesto, CA. [
