A Record price for a '76 50th Anniversary? Not sure.

The 4-speed '70 cheaper than the automatics? What was wrong with it?

Without knowing the buyers.

Hard to tell if it's has to do with the Rover crowd use to paying high for something?

Seems to be a trend that's building. Resto mod too.

Not all about showroom restorations and factory stock for the rare ones. Black/Gold TAs are big sellers.

With Barrett this week you may see higher. I was just at the kick off cruise last night. Some pretty high quality cars for sale there already.

The good stuff generally goes across the block on Fri-Sat, so we'll see what they look like when I get there.

Man, that's depressing. I really want a 76 455 LE, but at this rate I have a better chance at a 70 RAIII 4 speed.

Yes, that's true.

Last year you could have bought that exact car a year earlier for 50k...

It will be interesting to see what Lot 1258 sell for. Its to bad they took off the polyglas tires and lost the correct radiator cap.

Funny, I noticed the radiator cap too. Very nice car, with an obvious attention to detail, and they don't put the correct radiator cap on.

Do the repop radiator caps look different than the originals?

I figured it was done by someone who really knows these cars. Way too many things right on it, relative to typical auction car fare!

Yes - should be interesting to see the bids.

With the new F60 Radial Wide Oval Firestones "bias-ply look" tires theres no excuse for BFGs anymore (except price maybe? Dunno how much the new Firestones are)

Were Firestone wide ovals OEM on 70-72s? If not radials repops a good alternative?

Price is one, but the other reason is that they only make the radial (bias-ply look) in a few sizes and styles so selection is very limited at the moment. They don't yet make the correct tire for our 69 Z yet for example, or I'd have a set on there.

Maybe in the future the choices will increase, but when I talked to them about that last year they had no immediate plans to produce some of the other popular styles and sizes.

The one big killer is that at this time, Coker is the only manufacture doing this so far, and they only produce Firestones....they don't and won't be doing any Goodyears

If you want a correct bias "look-a-like" white letter radial tire, then Firestones are your only choice, because Coker only deals with Firestone and they are the only manufacture doing the raised white letter radial bias look-a-like tire. So if Firestones aren't correct, or the correct size isn't made, you're out of luck there.

They still have somewhat of a rolled edge though, and although they look pretty neat, they still don't catch the bias appearance completely. From a distance they look pretty good though.

The car had polyglas tires on it when I sold it. The new BFG's look like crap. The ride height on the car was good with the polys when I sold it in Fl. Now it looks way to high because those tires are so short. Im sure it drives a lot better with them. Im going to assume he put on 235 60's on the car. The problem is the new 235's are nothing like the old 235's. BFG is just trying to save money and the tires just keep getting smaller.

Thanks. Wish I could have kept it. Actually I miss the white car more.
