Sorry to be late to the party, but are you guys arguing over what is a hemisphere, or what is a hemispherical combustion chamber, or what is a HEMI?
Chrysler automotive engines never had a true hemispherical chamber. They were spherical domes, but not full hemispheres. The problem with a true hemispherical chamber is that is is very large and dependent only on the bore. To get any reasonable compression, you need either very tall piston domes, defeating much of the purpose of the hemisphere, or a very long stroke. For example, to get a 10:1 compression with flat top pistons, my back of the envelope calculations say that you need a stroke that is 3 times the bore. We know we can never get that to breath or stay together. So HEMI is just a catchy name and currently a trademark of FCA. |

I hope we can mostly agree this new head is "HEMI inspired", or " hemi...ish". If your designing a billet head, you want to incorporate latest technology or what you believe will work best for your type of racing. Our "Ram Air V" billet head had more of a hemispherical chamber shape than this KRE version of the "HEMI" head because we wanted to remove the squish and Quench pads to work better with nitro fuel. But we wanted to retain the Ram Air V port configuration, pushrod tubes and all. Chrysler Corporation was smart enough to understand the history and legacy of the old HEMI head design and realized that i could equal huge sales. So they added squish and quench to create a little mixture motion to pass emissions and the rest is history. In the end, it's all just a bunch of words. I don't know what the end use is for this KRE billet head, but I hope it works out well for the user. It's a big expense to design and make a pair of billet heads. Ours took about 8 years to develop and $$$$ to produce.

My pickup. Might not be a true Hemi, but I bet you could make some power with it if the parts were even available.

Glad you liked it bro.
Tundras have fantastic engines. Toyota took a regular I Force engine and put their 10psi factory roots blower on it, made 504 HP. Then hit it with 200 shot of spray on top of that. Engine took it, car ran 8s. |

Apples and oranges.........this is a 500 + cubed hemi heard v8 race engine. 1,000-2,000 hp race engine.
