And here's Don Kennedy's car.

Been here several years. This is the first time I can remember not being able to post 5 pics on each post.

Here are the Stock class groupings.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop

Don't see any possible Pontiac class winner threats, unless somebody runs a lot quicker than their qualifying time, or there is a red light or really bad light by some non-Pontiac powered cars.

In round 2 of class elims, Logan Galbraith got RU, in N/SA, and Randi Lyn Shipp got a bye into the D/SA final.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

In round 3, Randi Lyn cut a better light, but lost to a quicker car. So, we have to settle for 2 RU finishes, in class.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

This is not Pontiac related, but Bobby Brannon ran a 9.987, followed by a 9.99, to get the C/SA class win. TJ & I raced bracket, while he was racing class, at a little track near Hallsville, TX, back in the '70's. Bobby lives just over 80 miles from us, in Bossier City, LA. Also of note, the C/SA RU was a '70 GS 455 Buick, which qualified #5, with a 10.002.

Was interested in knowing why that Buick 455 was so much quicker than a Pontiac 455, in Stock legal form. Pretty easy to see, lookin at the NHRA legal specs. Higher compression, larger bore, shorter stroke, bigger cam. NHRA rates it, probably very conservatively, at 385hp.

http://www.classracerinfo.com/Engine...701&MAKE=Buick

Also, Jason Line is the driver. Most know that he drives one of the Summit Pro Stock cars. So, there has probably been no expense spared, squeezing everything they can from this car.

In SS, looks like the alum head 428 cars have a good chance to pick up class wins, in GT/EA & GT/FA. Mike Morgan also has a shot in SS/MA. Never know how much each car can improve, for class runs. Lots of guys don't try to run their quickest possible times, in qualifying. Then, for the class runs, they let it all hang out, if necessary.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

And, for close runs, RT can give the slower car the win. Bill Rink got the holeshot win over Mike Morgan, last year, when Mike cut a REAL bad light, & Bill cut a good light. Sometimes the driver with the quicker car will play it TOO safe. But, the driver of a much quicker car does not wanna take any chance to red-light away a class win.

Doug Kroft & Tim Gillespie both survived the 1st round of S/G.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop

Bob Michael ran quicker than his qualifying time, but still had to settle for RU in the L/SA class.

Don Kennedy won the GT/EA class.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

Todd Frantz won the GT/FA class. Bill Rink beat Mike Morgan, again, in the all Pontiac 350 powered SS/MA class final. They're the 2 quickest 350P cars I've ever heard of.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

So, in SS, Pontiac power got 3 class wins & one RU. Two 428's & two 350's.

There were supposed to be 3 rounds of Stock elims today. But, they had rain. So, now only 1 round is on the schedule, and that's at the end of the day, AFTER everything else has run.

On the final Stock qualifying list, Chris Stephenson is #63 @ 1.055 under, Randi Lyn Shipp is #66 @ 1.048 under, Logan Galbraith is #75 @ 1.037 under, Bob Michael is #107 @ .968 under, & Julie Biermann is #122 @ .901 under. The only Pontiac that didn't make the 128 car field is the '77 Lemans driven by Wayne Larsen. He was .627 under.

Doug Kroft has survived 3 rounds of S/G. I noticed that Randi Lyn Shipp is also driving a S/G car & is still in. But, I don't think her S/G car is Pontiac powered.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop

Today's action is supposed to begin with the 1st round of Stock & SS.

Next round of Stock, SS, & S/G won't come 'til after all the pro & alcohol cars run, towards the end of the day's racing.

Chris Stephenson, Julie Biermann, & Randi Lyn Shipp survived Stock E-1.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop

Rain hit about half way thru SS. Big cell looks like it is about to hit. So, they might be down for several hours.

Chris Stephenson had the only Pontiac to survive Stock E-2.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

Mike Morgan is still alive after SS E-2.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

No more Stock/SS 'til after all the Pro elims.

Chris Stephenson also survived Stock E-3.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

But he lost in E-4.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop

Mike Morgan also lost in SS.

Doug Kroft got a bye in S/G E-4. So, I reckin he has the only Pontiac powered car still in competition.

Doug Kroft lost. But, he got down to only 5 cars. So, he got farther than any other Pontiac powered racer, at this year's US Nats.
