We were the east coast jobber for speed equipment including circle track stuff. Auto Finishers Speed and Custom. We stopped selling them and always sold MSD, magnetic trigger. DUI are solid as well magnetic triggers,Pertronix are hall effect. But cross country you still can't beat points and a carb.

Picked up the motor for my Firebird from the machine shop. Pretty stoked about it. Lots of pieces of the puzzle are coming together on the bird.

Somers Automotive Machine. We've used Archie almost exclusively for over 20 years for machine work. (Did my OHC 6) We have him do the machine work and we assemble them ourselves. Once he's done with the heads we'll have the short block ready and then we'll have it dynoed at his shop.
He's a bit grumpy but the work is always on time and done right. He has a lot of regular customers who race for points so sometimes it may take a bit longer but he lets you know up front how long to expect.

Progress, hope to start assembly Monday.
Then turn car around and start on driver side. This tread has at least gotten me off my butt.

Great weather today so I pulled both cars out and did some tinkering. Everyone seemed to have their old iron out around town. I saw a couple Mustang converts, a '69 FB convert and a '70 Super Bee while running around.
Came home and readjusted the back brakes on the '68 and did one more bleed. Futzed with the brake pedal switch and realized I've had the bracket in the wrong spot for the last 20 years which allowed me to adjust the pedal lower which in turn took a ton of slack out of the pedal. Pulled the old speedo cable out, which melted on the exhaust, out only to realize I ordered one that's too short. D'oh.

Did a little buffing on the passenger side quarter of my 62. Plan on doing a little cleaning on the interior parts for my 67 GTO a little later today.

Nothing yet. But I was in Florida visiting kids/grandkids all week, and had parts for all 3 of my older cars on order that arrived. Now unboxing, and its close to 60 here in SW Wisconsin, so have the overhead door open while out here. First time since last fall.

Trying to sort out a possible overheat issue. The OEM temp gauge shows the car overheating - but no symtoms.
No overflow, smell, etc. The OBD2 connector is not sending any signal - once I sort that out then I can read the ECM and see what the computers temp sender says. One bite at a time I guess... |

Threw a battery in this yesterday and took it for a drive. And yes... I installed the hold down after I took the pic.
