Those repo door handle are very nice quality but the only problem with the nuts is you need to use a 10 m wrench on them if I remember correct.

Joe,
I bought the door handles from Muscle car industries. But PY, I think sells the same long handles part # RFD41A & 42A. And yes the bolts are metric, I added a washer to match the support of the original bolts
Thanks!

I think I am going to rain on this parade.. pretty sure those nuts would have been silver cadmium... lol... My experience, at least for 70 and 71 models, black was seen on bolts/screws... Just about every nut was silver. Unlike today where we have gold for grade 8 and silver for grade 5, they were all silver and grade designations was done by hash marks or dots on the face of the nuts(i.e. 6 has marks grade 8, 3 or 5 for grade 5 etc...) Especially in an area where engineers knew water/moisture would reach them... the cadmium plating was superior to the black phosphate.. Just like the underside of the cars.. 90% of nuts were silver cadmium.. I can only think of 2 places where they were not silver..

Rain all you want Bill, but mine are Black with spinny washers on them. I would say that they are the same nuts that were used on the rear spoiler.

Knowing the history of your car Craig...I will take the black .. Inside door hardware is one area that I haven't paid much attention to, need to do more of. This was my educated guess, as I sort of said ,or at least meant to, in my post. Especially with my "lol" comment after "rain on the parade" ...I have 2 doors in my garage I took off of a 70 Formula 350 I parted out 2 years ago and my 71 HO is apart. Memphis is getting one of our rare snows today,5" already!! Now I will not be able to sit still until I go out and check these doors' nuts.. Damnit...I should have kept my mouth shut and not posted on this thread last night....I really don;t want to get out in this stuff.....It is a mess outside...

The color of a bolt, nut, hose, belt, didnt stop the production line for any year, or model.

Mind you vendors kept stock as full as possible but Im sure fires popped up here and there though out the years regardless.
Bottom line is Anything is Possible!

Craig, my Van Nuys '70, that you know the history of, the rear spoiler nuts are Gold Cad., or at least Gold Iridate. The nuts inside the trunk lid look like brand new. The 4 outer most ones were more faded, but still have a bit of Gold plating showing. This is a surprise to me, that Norwood built were Black Phosphated.

I have both Norwood and Van Nuys and they're cad. Personally, I've never seen black phosphates used here.

By popular opinion, it might be time to change your nuts!

Don't you love how this stuff goes back and forth. Never say never, just like for MP stamped rims.
