Yes all cooling holes are threaded.
As for the intake bolt holes in my opinion they shouldnt even be there. If they line up it completely depends on where you put the intake port
The head has loads of capability but it does require work. In my opinion from what I have seen its worth the work.

From what I hear, it will be well worth it.

EHTTDMMF Its time you step up to 10.5 and something better Jeff. Tigers would look good in there and get the job done. Maybe these new Pro-ports. Might have to become a part time plumber to afford either though. Best of luck whatever direction you go! You know I'm a fan!

Bruce, I have 3 kids that take alot of my time and money right now and are just going to keep it the same and have fun . thats what its about.Im not going broke over this racing stuff I can tell you that. If I can win some money then thats fine too. . Maybe when my kids are older I will try something different. I wish the RAM Racing Series South would have worked out for you!

BTW what is EHTTDMMF?

Its best I pm you that one. Hey I understand the kid thing 6 over 29 years spread crimped me plenty of times. Got a 10 yr old left in house her next closest was 16 when she was born. We were starting to get used to extra income and freedom. Then oops! I'm seeing relief in near the future.

I simply couldnt get enough to sponsor Ram South properly. Plenty of racers interested, tracks too. Big area lots of costs to cover. Couldnt find enough volunteers, no way could I handle a payroll without sponsor money. Economy was tanking at same time. Rich wasnt in good enough shape to help. If it starts booming again I might give it another look. Potential is huge.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say by the time your ready, there will be a cnc program or two that's out there that will get the job done and cars showing it on the track.

Which will bring the cost down on the development of the head. From what I hear there's also an intake in the works, given us all another good head choice with track results. Well worth the wait.

I have a question. I have heard through the grapevine that the spark plug location changed from where it was on the very earliest castings. Can anyone confirm that?

Recent picture posted leads me to believe it may have been revised some.

The person that told you would know better than anyone. I haven't heard that. There is no issue if the chamber is shaped correctly and I think that is why you see a difference in the pics.

If Edelbrock is concerned with valve weight, they shouldn't be. With titanium 8 mm valve stem valves. The valve should be plenty light enough for rpm's up to 9,000 +.

Bruce your spark plug location worries are indeed a major concern. The plug location is not optimum and can lead to detonation. As Tom V. stated as well, there is probably going to be an issue with cracking in this area. It is thin there and with the heat build up in this area may end up being a major issue. I guess we won't know that until someone gets a set on an engine and beats on them.

So with this all being said, to make these heads work without issues. It looks like welding will be necessary as well as additional machining before welding and after.
I hope all of our hypothesis are unfounded!!!

Picture Slowbird shows looks ok. IIRC Don has a very early casting as does Calvin. The ones at PRI appeared different than theirs.

I'm just trying to confirm if the issue had already been addressed.

Did they ask Edelbrock at the PRI show? All I know is if the chamber is done correctly its a none issue. So who cares if it was moved or not. Any heads that are bought now will have the same location as mine which is fine.

I can't confirm the plug location change, but I can confirm that changes were made from the original casting that I received over two years ago. That information came directly from the manufacture. They also indicated they wanted an exhaust style more similar to the BBC style, but people much closer to the Pontiac market strongly advised against that.

Thanks.
