I found the revelation hard to believe, but the source was from within GM. Your time frame makes it impossible that it is the same car. Further clarification is needed. Were there any other 67 GTOs at te DPG?

No.
Not during my time at the DPG (visitor 1986 - 1989; resident 1990 - 1994). K

Well, based on mzbk21's personal observations, our mutual GM friend is mistaken about the origin of the Plum Mist Heritage Collection GTO. Which is strange since he has had a hand in acquiring several of the Pontiacs in the collection. His intell on the Historic Collection cars is usually unquestionable.

gtoric, it's possible that the GTO was removed shortly before I left. I know it was there for most of my time at the DPG ('97-'04), but it could have left sometime in '03 and I may not have noticed its absence during my last few months. I honestly don't remember if it was still there, gone, or in the scrap yard by the time I left. They didn't take it out much at the end, even after they went to all the trouble to put the LT- or LS-1 in it when the '75 455 ventilated the crankcase.

Inside the Camaro Plant
I apologize for using the "C" word but thought you might be interested in these. I am posting these because it shows some assembly processes, including body-in-white framing, as well as some completed prototype vehicles (maybe I should go and grab the VINs off those cars for posterity's sake). Since these are originally posted on a public forum I am interpreting that it is ok to link them here. FWIW - http://www.flickr.com/photos/gmblogs...7613329865717/

Just to make this thread more interesting:
I just got a box of magazines out of the local library: Street Rodder 70-93 45 issues Street Rodding 82-83 5 issues Rod Action 75-93 15 issues Rod & Custom OCT 92 single NSRA 88 +93 just 2 NSRA Regional 1981 single Trucking May 1994, Nov 1993 Rod Ideas July 1976 ONE My temptation is to give it all to Keith and let him make the first scans for here if there are any worth doing, (Have not talked to Keith Yet) (Anybody got a better idea for these Gems?) I doubt if there will be many 'cuz of the focus of those mags, but any older car ads should probably be scanned for posterity. I've done that with some old Sports Illustrated. I wish my scanner could do the large format mags like Life, Post, etc. I'm trying to rig up my digital camera to do those bigger ones.

You are prolly right. When my friend at the GM Photo Archive scanned the Life ads from WW II, he had to farm it out. I remember seeing a scanner at BB a few years ago that scanned 11x14 or 11X17, I forget which. If such a scanner is still available it would be perfect for us preservationists/Archivists. But I thought the collection of Hot Rod type magazines was worth the grab in case someone here can use em. But I am beginning to think that perhaps the baby-boomers and the technology have combined to create more Ephemera than any othe generation, The combination of creation of and inclination to save ephemera for posterity should start to overflow the capacity of existing archives right about (Ducks) now Good luck and thanks Ralph

Ralph, I have an Epson Expressions 836XL flat bed scanner that will handle 11"x17" images. I have scanned all of the GTO magazines ads of which I am currently aware. I have also recreated several ads that I can not locate, and am not even sure were published. Ads from Automotive News are hard to find, and industry ads from the montly NADA magazine are almost impossible to find. I've also scanned all seven of the Pontiac high performance sales brochures. I should put together an archival website just for Pontiac literature. I will most probably get around to it if and when the new Pontiac-Oakland museum and research center gets up and running. Ralph, maybe you'd be interested in the webmaster responsibilities for that museum site.

This one's been in the works for quite a while (...nine years, apparently...). Perhaps the rest of these will take as long, which will amount to a slight reprieve - K
