Here is some progress. Disreguard the incorrect clamps and filter. They are temporary
I finally got my back glass in yesterday. $91 COD charge on the freight only. I don't know what the glass actually cost. The glass guy came to install it today. There were many deep scratches in the glass. Glass guy says he can get a good one for $285 plus installation. I tried to save some $$ getting this glass through my connections, but it has been a bust. This was not a pleasant experience to say the least. For those of you who asked about the part number for the GM paint, it is 1051499. |

More progress. I'm still waiting forthe paint to come in to the dealership, so the trunk can be repainted. Also waiting to hear how the powder coating went on the Hurst wheels.

Amazing work! This post has been one heck of an inspiration to me for mine. I am very anxious to see the end result.
Andre, would you happen to have pictures of how the proportioning valve is installed on the inner frame rail? I am ready for that, and couldn't see a pic that showed it very well. Please feel free to PM if you can. Thanks! Great job, too! |

I will try to get that picture for you. The proportioning valve is mounted low on the frame near the junction like a 69 and later. The lines that I am using are '67 lines, but really I should probably be using the '69 style lines that bend and go behind the booster.
The trunk paint has been received from the dealer and delivered to the Resto shop. I have also gotten back the Hurst wheels. I need to polish the spoke faces, and then get the side of the spokes painted flat silver to represent unfinished aluminum. These wheels were sold with the intention that people could paint the sides of the spokes in a color to match their car, but that would be stepping too far out of the box for me, so I am going to stick with making them look as if they had just come out of the box/can. For now here are some pics with the front end partially assembled |

Here is a picture of the dash installed. As you can see I went with the repo rally gauges. I also went with the aerospace insulation instead of the traditional factory tar paper etc.

Andre: How do you like that two-post lift? How much did you use it during the project? Was it worth the investment?
I'm looking to purchase one, but just want to see if that is the right thing to do or put the money into the car directly. Any opinions appreciated. |

Andre - which manufacturer did you get your woodgrain insert from? I've used PY and TPP, and neither one impressed me. Yours looks pretty nice.

This dash woodgrain came from the parts place. It is quite thick, and i think it has the metal backing on it already, or is thick enough that it didn't need it. I can't remember any more.

I went over to the shop to deliver some misc pieces- grill trim, a repo hood latch, and a horn contact switch. The hood is now on the car, as this picture was taken a couple nights ago.
There are some minor issues with the repo front bumper that you really have to be nitpicking to find. There was some faults with the rechromed bumper boyz bumper, but at this late stage in the game, these are not going to cause me to loose any sleep. Did I mention that no one makes the correct perforated headliner, sail panels or visors in gold! As a result, I bought a parchment one. That will be installed, and then dyed to match the interior. That was extra $$ of pain. The back glass problem was solved with a piece of NOS LOF glass. $280 installed. That is somewhat expensive, but I think I will be very happy with it. The repo glass upon further examination was not even cut quite right, and did have many scratches as I mentioned. I am diligently polishing my Hurst wheels, but I will have to go over those at least 2 more times to get them looking the way that I want them to |

Great looking car impressive and well done
If you get a chance and have it can you post the colors used for the dash paint. I have a 65 with the same color interior and cant find the color codes for the dash as its about 3 differnent shades of the gold from light to dark around your dash...... Looks great.... Thanks for posting all these pix they help much for peep's way behind you!!

Andre,
You mentioned using the repo. front bumper and rechromed bumper boyz bumper. Just wondering if you also used the repo headlight bezels. If so, wanted to know if the fit problems have been corrected. Thanks Last edited by 6tee7goat; 02-02-2006 at 03:33 PM. |

I used the repo headlight bezels, and the bodyman made minor tweeks so that both headlight bezels fit quite well.

The interior is now getting wrapped up on the car. If you decide to buy a repo '66 dash, it is indeed a nice piece. However, don't throw yours away without pulling the clips that attach it to the metal portion of the dash or you will be sorry. It does not come with them.
I didn't throw away my dash pad, but it is saveable, so if I remember correctly, there is an old red core in my parents attic that may be able to give up it's clips before it heads off to dumpster land |
