I took the frame to the body shop last Thursday. They are going to finish fitting the passenger rear quarter, paint the firewall, fit the doors and then paint the dash and doors inside.
Then, I will bring the car home to reinstall everything that I can under the dash and on the firewall. That's the good news! Now, the bad. Work has run out and I am going to have to put the resto on the back burner for a while. Hopefully, work will pick up but the contractor I work for does not have anything started. Even if he did it would be three months before we could get in it to do our part. I will do things that do not cost. And, I will keep you posted every Sunday any way.

Some more. I don't know how the deck lid picture will show but the paint is Mariner turquoise.

After I left he was going to take the body back off and finish welding them and paint the firewall. I will probably go back this Friday to get the car and bring it home for the time being.

It would probably be better that way. Norman braced the door opening and braced the body from underneath. He also had to work out the tail panel. I am very pleased with his work.

Well, the car is still in the body shop. I will get it back this week or the next. In the meantime, I took the steering column apart, cleaned and repainted part of it. I will finish it when I go get the car and the can of spray paint mixed to the color of the car.
I will update the hours when I finish the column.

Here is the latest. My body man has to paint the inside of the doors and hang them. Then I will bring the car home and start putting what I can back on.
I painted the steering column and will reassemble it this week. I also took the floor shifter apart, cleaned iy and put it back together. It will need a new handle or rechroming of the old one. I paid $10.00 for a can of Mariner Turquoise paint for the steering column. It took 6 hours to do the work. Labor@ 257 hrs = $5140.00 Parts.............. = $7203.19 Outside Labor.. = $3000.00 Total........... = $15243.00

According to how I read the resto guide, on all 67's the interior was color coded except for the Parchment.
I take that to mean that my dash, doors, kick panels and steering column would be the same color, just a lower gloss. I know for a fact my dash and inside of the doors was Mariner Turquoise. If I am wrong about this, I need to know now, because my body man is painting the doors on the inside and hanging them this week.

Just FYI, and I'm not saying that this is the case here, It is a common mistake that a lot of folks paint the upper doors and dash to match the exterior of the car. This is wrong in most cases that I've seen. I was just trying to help you avoid that mistake, if it is a mistake. Again, hopefully some expert will chime in here. In the mean time, I would go on Ultimategto.com and look at all the 67 GTO's in Mariner Turquoise and check out any with that color interior and see what they look like. That might give you some insight.

Here's a couple of pic's I found on that site. It explains what I was talking about. I think the color in the interior is a little lighter than Mariner Turquoise. What do you think?

On my '66 GTO the fackory color outside was the light silver blue, dark blue seats and the upper doors and column was a slightly lighter(medium)blue than the seats.

Jerry,
Looking at those pictures, I can see what you are talking about. I will look up my trim tag info and see what it says. I know the seat covers, carpet and door panels are dark turquoise. And, since the dash and rear inside has already been painted Mariner Turquoise, I may have to stay with it for the rest of the interior.
