Power Steering Pump Identification?
Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to find out if the power steering pump in our '72 GTO is original to the car. Is there a part number to look for? Thanks! Johnny |

The pump itself has the part number. Unfortunately it's inside the oil reservoir hidden from view. You have a photo?

I attached two photos of the pump. I tried to look in the pump with a light and magnifying glass but no luck. The pump has a lot of crud in it. I'm think there's a chance it may be the original because as I was cleaning the black spray paint off, I found blue engine color underneath.
Thanks Again |

Took a pic when I had the pump off my 72, believe it’s original.

Thanks DavesGTO. I think it is the original as well. Another thing is these pumps typically last a long time. The car had 89,000 actual miles when we bought it. Considering the car's mileage, the blue paint and, the ability to last, I'm confident I have the original pump. I'll reinstall it after I rebuild it.

DavesGTO,
I just got the rebuild kit for the pump. What is the part number I should see when I take the pump apart? Thanks JohnnysGTO |

I sent mine out to be rebuilt but never noticed a part number on the pump just on the pulley. This is from the restoration guide. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
