[65 Lamnas]

It's been almost 15 years since my last Lamnas, and I'm not getting any younger, sooo....

Last year I found a rust-free '65 Lamnas near me for sale. PO had owned for maybe 5 years and had fun with it, but was time to go. If I'd been ready to buy a few years earlier, could've had a nicely restored Nightwatch Blue '65 GTO, but the timing wasn't right.

So I pulled the trigger on this one about a year ago....I'm not sure when the cloning was done...prior to the guy I bought it from, IIRC.

I made the deal for the car with no engine or trans....just a roller. It's rust-free and was a CA car until the PO bought it 6 years ago.

So, I found a virgin std bore 400 block recently disassembled and drug it home.
Going to poke it, stroke it, and try out a couple of new-ish HR cam lobes from CC

The car has never had a console in it...when I bought it there was a vintage B&M shifter which I didn't like and so I proceeded to rip it out. About the same time....I discovered the carpet was 1-piece and not fitted very well (how could it be?). Ripped that out too. Whatever tf they used for adhesive was VERY effective. It very nearly kicked my ass getting it pulled up.

So, I laid down some kill-mat and new carpet after figuring out where to locate the console and installed a dual gate shifter. I'm thinking I might have to pull the console out once more and put in a vacuum gauge.

I don't know how to rotate my pics once they upload.....I don't have 'em saved like that.

Looks like a fun project. You know I'm in because it's likely to have an ugly old Q-jet sitting on the engine when it finished.

The best part about that is when you are sitting at a car show, cruise-in, or staging lanes you can tell all the naysayers that are chuckling to themselves and pointing at your ugly carburetor to go look at the tail lights?

"What"they will respond. "Ya dude, go back and get yourself a really good look at those tail lights......because that's ALL you are going to see when we race!"........LOL.....

Those are some sweet Centerlines in the first picture I hope your not replacing them for those black wheels I see in another picture. Did you do the port work on the heads? What is the purpose of enlarging those holes in the heads, water cooling holes?

Those pics with the centerlines were from before I owned the car...those wheels (along with the engine and trans) were not part of the deal I made. I'm not thrilled with the black wheels and they'll be going...I must say tho, they're light.

Derek Stewart is doing the build, and just sent me pics tonight because he finished up one of the heads. He's doing a coolant mod on them, so that might be related.

I especially like his work because he proves everything on the dyno and therefore knows what works and what doesn't. He and Dave did my 535 at SD back in '08.

There was a sale at Summit and I snapped up a pair of Edelbrock round-port heads...there's many more versions than the last time I had a new set. These are P/N 61615 which are "assembled for HR cam, 72 cc CNC (or "fast-burn") chambers,", etc. (Derek Stewart, not sure if he's on here) got the heads finished the other day. They were a bit rough as received, so a lot of reshaping sanding and otherwise finishing work was done. Engineering too. They flowed very well and better than expected...to the tune of the below numbers which are the avg of the 8....I think it's probably typical to have to tweak production heads like these. Thoughts?

Well, it's been a bit since I updated. Had an issue with the Molnar rod bolts, but got that resolved pretty quickly, and the replacements stretched perfectly. Other than that. the bottom end went together nicely. Just waiting on some pushrods which will arrive this week. Just some intake porting is about all that's left. The port work on the HO is complete, but still finishing up the RPM and HSD. Dyno time to be scheduled soon, and looking forward to the numbers.

Been a minute since I updated. Intakes are all now fully ported. In addition to the 455HO, HSD, and RPM, there'll be a iron '72 intake for a baseline. Several spacers to test along with the 2 Q-jets.....one is pretty standard, the other, as mentioned, a more special unit with the outer boosters removed, and some other tricks. Sharing some manifold pics.
