Then you can also use 614 pads on D52 calipers from Police Caprice and Impala SS cars for a larger sq in pad surface.

A quick search looks like powestop doesnt offer the slotted rotors anymore, at least not at summit or rockauto, just drilled & slotted.

Thanks again 78….I’m not sure why I not efficient at that probably cause im old ha.
The drilled and slotted are suppose to be less than ideal correct? Maybe it would be better to search for the AC DELCO’S? |

I wouldnt say they are less than ideal, lots of people use drilled &/or slotted rotors on the street & definitely for auto/x racing so they are good rotors. Ive read that drilled rotors can be prone to cracks on the street but never really heard of that happening and it was many years ago when drilled rotors were relatively new for classic street cars. They are supposed to help in hard braking situations with cooling and brake fade etc.
Im sure the ac delcos are good rotors too, all depends on the purpose of the car and budget. I have OEM type replacements on my 78 that work as they should and original stock rotors that I had turned on my 81 4 wheel disc car, they all work as intended and using a high heat paint keeps the hat & area between the 2 sides mostly rust free. |

Slots, from what I’ve heard, are meant to scrape off any debris on the pad surface, effectively cleaning the pad. Personally, I don’t care for cross drilled rotors for street cars. As 78w72 pointed out, they are more susceptible to cracking from heat cycling. They also act like a cheese grater on your pads and you’ll end up eating pads much faster. I do like slotted rotors though. I’m planning on snagging some AC Delco slotted rotors whenever these wear out.

Doesnt look like ac delco makes the gold series black hat rotors for 2nd gen cars that I could find.
The ones linked above are the silver series uncoated, nothing wrong with those but probably similar to other uncoated brands in that price range like raybestos, bendix or right stuff etc. If youre concerned with rust, cast iron engine enamel paint in a spray can will protect them for a very long time. Or if your OEM rotors arent warped too bad and still within thickness spec, there are places that will turn them for a lot cheaper than new rotors. |
