Summit and Jegs have more to answer for than just pulling the product line.
They sold those pieces. I hope a good lawyer team steps up pro-bono for Broader What if they would have had TCI logo engraved in them instead ? KaBoom |

I don't know what if any responsibility Summit or Jegs has, they sold the parts but can easily deny and knowledge of the level of Name brand infringement displayed here. This is all on Speedmaster for not inspecting their product after coming out of the manufacturing (copying) vendor. I doubt that Summit or Jegs inspects every product as they arrive in the boxes.

Summit has people hired for the exact thing this discussion is about. It’s obvious someone had to look at the knock off and compared it to the US made one. I don’t buy it slipped through the cracks.
…or..Perhaps someone wasn’t doing their job makes reasonable sense. Another thing that is entirely possible is the CCP may have a interest in the company. That’s how things work now in big business.

These things skipped over way too many cracks.
I still can't relate to the idea that Speed requested them produced with the name on them, but not with the exact artwork design. As in , let's make a counterfeit that can be detected pretty easy, but use a small player as the target victim. None of this seems innocent anywhere anymore. Too weird for me |

Summit is still a privately owned company after doing a search. I see Scott Peterson was named President and COO.
Wasn’t there a Pontiac guy named Scott that worked for summit and on the Py forum? Unrelated, Jegs controlling interest was bought by Greenbriar Equity.

I also recall a few years ago Speedmaster sold copies of blower drive’s with the BDS log still on them. Summit I don’t think was a vendor for SM at the time, it was known in smaller circles, not like Broader’s youtube video that has went viral, so it never really came to light. I think the Blower shop even had to come out with a disclaimer saying the SM drives were counterfeit and they would not be covered by a warrantee.

Look fellas, its not just SM but all manufacturing in China. It is literally part of their business culture in that country that as long as its business it is perfectly fine to steal someone else,s idea or product.
Manufacturing did not move over there on its own. It was a plan to weaken us as a county and it has done just that. They want what we have and are playing the long game vs just going to war. |

Here is the Blower shops troubles with SM. I recalled wrong, it wasn’t the drive with the name on it, it was the blower. SM made it, and has the TBS logo right on there.

I read through quite a lot of the comments on Broader's YouTube video.
Summit commented at least 5 or 6 times. They really are grabbing it by the horns and not hiding in the shadows. Dropping the whole product line will decrease their own revenue as well. (along with aiding in any legal issues forthcoming) .SpeedMaster79 even commented We at Speedmaster are aware of the concerns raised in this video and are taking them very seriously. We are conducting a thorough investigation. We do not condone counterfeit products. We appreciate the community's vigilance and ask for your patience as we resolve this matter. For any concerns, please contact us directly. One transmission guy claims to have bought several of the valve bodies from Summit in the past and none he received had the Broader logo or artwork on them. Seems they have been available for a while and the Broader logo is a very new issue on them. They don't use the Broader name in their listings and their pictures don't show any logo. But the engraved logo is more complex than a Blower Shop sticker. This is really way out there |

All these company usually require their vendors to carry product liability insurance and be named on the policy. The company I was with required 1 mil for low liability items like cotton balls and 2 mil for higher liability items like something you would sit in.It was per event.Just business.Tom

If Speedmaster/China would have spent less time copying the engraved name and a little more time making a part that actually worked, none of this would have likely come to light. Every part they market is a poor knock-off of a proven design engineered and tested by another company, mostly in the USA. They make a "facsimile" of that part and market it at 70-75% of the cost of the real part. That's the business model. Until they stole the guys name, it worked well for them. When my student's buy Speedmaster parts, 95% of them need some attention before they will fit or function. 50% need extensive modification to work. About 30% have to be returned.

We all know SpeedMaster is the Copy King
And that isn't too far from counterfeiting in most ways other than branding for full effect. I think this was espionage or sabotage Its too stupid and too extreme They weren't promoting them as Broader edition SpdMstr items And others have been sold w/o logo or artwork Probably how the logo units slipped by Summit - if they were just in a new shipment of an existing offering. |

Summit is destroying all the Valve Bodies themselves on their premises and not returning them to SpeedMaster.
To keep them out of anyone else's supply chain. They should probably hold onto at least one under lock and key. |

I would guess Summits lawyers are in control of what is being done there now with SM products.Been through stuff like this and they deal with the insurance companies.Tom

I just watched an NHRA video on you tube about Bob Tasca being sanctioned at the the virginia nats for some manifold discrepancies.
At the bottom of the screen was sponsered by SpeedMaster products. They arent going to go anywhere into oblivion. They probably will just sell direct like they allready do. FWIW
