Manifold Question
hello,
1st time posting here. I have a 1969 Custom S with a 350 engine , 2 Barrel Carburetor with a automatic Transmission. The engine is original to the car. I have purchased a Quadrajet 4 Barrel intake manifold 10003395 with the Quadrajet Carburetor that looks to be from a 1978 or 1979 trans am that i would like to use on the car. I have the manifold on the 350 engine now but have realized that the ports for the temperature sending unit and the thermostatic vacuum switch {TVS} are different from my 2 barrel intake. on the 2 barrel intake the TVS went on the front left corner of the intake and the temperature sending unit went on the right. On the 4 Barrel intake I have the hole on the left but no hole on the right. How do i make this work???? Can I make it work?? i have posted pictures of both intakes. Thank You in advance for your help. |

If I were doing the swap from 2 to 4 barrel carb on that engine, I would use a '67-'71 Pontiac intake manifold as it would have the two holes for the TVS and temp sender and it would be a direct fit with matched ports. Also, I would use a Pontiac quadrajet form the same years as it also would be more compatible with the 350. Also, the carb that you say is from a '77-'78 T/A is not a Pontiac part as the fuel inlet is facing the right side indicating that it is a Chevy or Cadillac. What is the number on the quadrajet? Because the fuel pump is on the left side of the engine, the fuel line between that and the Chevy or Cadillac carb will need to make a U turn to connect to that carb and although doable, it will be odd looking. If you need a '67='71 intake, I have a '68 intake here in Nevada that I would be willing to sell but you can probably find one close to you as they are pretty common. Probably have a quadrajet that would work also if you decide to go that way.

That manifold will be a problem.
Not only is there only one temp sender hole, the exhaust crossover ports will be a mismatch to your heads.
Like Mr. G. says, pick up a 1968-71 intake and a qjet with a straight fuel inlet and everything will be compatible. |

Thank you Joe and Mr. G. That is not good news. . My bad. I was going to go back with the 2 barrel because it is much easier for me to put it back the way it was than to figure out how to make this work. I took a local hot rod guys advice on this and purchased both from him.
What would you guys do if you were doing this??The 350 motor is now a roller with 30 over bore. This car has been in my family since new and will just be a fun driver not a Hot Rod. The numbers on the Quadrajet are 170842923193HDK |

The carb is for a 1983 Chevy/ GMC truck with a build date of March 19, 1983. I would go with the Pontiac intake as mentioned above and a Pontiac Quadrajet from 1968=1972 as it will all bolt up fine and perform better than after market parts as the stock Pontiac intake performs as good or better than the after market parts as is true with the quadrajet carb. Or just put the 2 barrel back on it and call it a done deal as it is a nice simple set-up and you already have everything you need with out having to figure the small stuff if you decide to go with the 4- barrel intake and quadrajet. Additionally, the 4 barrel intake you bought may be desireable to a person needing one for their T/A but the 1983 quadrajet is not worth much. By small stuff I am thinking that you may need a 4 barrel throttle cable and maybe a fuel line for a 4 barrel also but I am not sure about either of those two items but someone else here would probably know for sure.

I have been looking on Facebook market place and have not seen any intakes. I think I'm going to put the 2 barell back on and call it a day. What would your intake and a quadrojet cost. I'm not sure if we can private message on here. If so send me a message.on the price.

Your Quadrajet intake 10003395 will fit just fine on your 1969 350, there is NO mismatch whatsoever.
And your truck M4ME will make a very good performer once calibrated accordingly. AS for the TVS, it is not needed for what you are doing. FWIW |

As Kenth says that intake will work. Manifolds are 65-71 and 72-79. You can put a late Manifold on early but not early to late. Carb will just fine as long as you get past the fuel line routing.
