Dome light
67 GTO the dome light will not turn off. So far I have removed both door, jam, switches, checked all the white wires for grounding issues. The headlight switch is new it is turned clockwise which dim the dash lights. If you turn it counterclockwise I can feel it when it’s supposed to turn on the dome light. Do not understand why it will not go off any help would be appreciated.

The white wire in the circuit is being grounded somewhere.

You might have a screw going through the wire. or touching it.

To further clarify, consider that the dome light lead has a constant voltage on it. It's just looking for a ground to turn on. That's all the door switches do.

If all else fails , plug the old HL switch in just loose under the dash and see how the dome operates.

If you have your old Head Light switch.
Just unplug the receptacle from the new Head Light switch. Hold the old one in your hand , and plug the receptacle into it. See what it does concerning the dome light. aka the new HL switch might be defective |

Too late, I must have thrown it away, I can’t find it. I must’ve kept that thing for a month.

What Greg said. We've all done it and probably won't be the last time we toss insignificant parts away...until we need them...significantly!

In my ‘65 GTO when opening “only” the RH door the dome / console light would not come on. I fussed with this issue for days until I realized the door jam switch was faulty. When I pressed or wiggled that RH switch the lights would come on. When I let go of the switch the lights go off. Some internal issue with just that RH switch.

Dome light crazy
Ok, my dome light staying on issue is back! I think i found the culprit, the under dash courtesy light. I took the socket of of the housing and the dome light works as it supposed to, put the bulb back in and the dome light stays off. The courtesy light never comes on. What could be wrong with the courtesy socket????
