Since it was brought up...
The original reading lamps in the '70 & 71 model Pontiacs differed from the later version that was very common by the late 70's & early 80's.
Will throw this out, how were they different? Btw, everyone can forget looking in parts books or dealer brochures.

I added the later version as an 'option' on my car.
The screw holes did not line up with the old dome light, I reused one and drilled another. Also can't remember the wiring too well other than I don't recall it being plug and play. I think I had to solder the donor lamp to the existing wiring. Middle bulb was different?

The wiring does need to be soldered, if you get it backwards the dome light will work properly but when you try to use a reading light things get wonky because of the wrong side being grounded.
As for 73 GTO Oshawa production I believe it was 231, not a big seller on either side of the border.
