67 gto gauges
I'm in the process of restoring a 67 gto 400, 4 speed. Started March 1st.
Right now I'm working on the dash. I have the dash out, in bench testing the water temp and oil pressure gauges, I think they are both bad. In looking for replacements, ( I couldn't find any), I called Precision Pontiac, man told me they all go bad, that he could repair them for around $500. I told him I could buy a NEW cluster for that! He said that the aftermarket electronics parts were bad, wouldn't last and i would be tearing the dash out of the car not long after I installed them. So, was he right? Has anyone used Precision Pontiac? Are aftermarket gauges any good? I'm thinking about going with digital gauges? They any better? |

It all depends on your budget. If you want the original Delco gauges, Precision Pontiac is the best choice IMHO. $500 isn't a bad price considering the amount of labor that goes into rebuilding and calibrating the gauges. I'm very happy with his work.
Or you can buy the made over there stuff... (Clock was not rebuilt)

Thanks Ultimate Warrior,
I would rather stick with the originals! You gave me the information I was looking for. The guy is legit, and I'm getting ripped off! |

Just an FYI for you...I bought aftermarket gauges from AMES for my 67 and after 11 driving seasons and over 20,000 miles later they're still working well.
