Hey Everybody,

How to do a Diy enclosed car trailer ramp door ramp extension flap On A Serious Budget with a "3 drop off the ramp?

"3/4 plywood or OSB board, "16 to "17 length, piano hinges etc. for a #3400 car - ideas?

'28 enclosed H&H base model trailer.

Mine is pretty straightforward with the aforementioned 1" plywood and piano hinge.





The only thing(s) not super obvious are:

1 - the use of inserts and machine screws rather than wood screws, in an attempt to keep them from stripping/pulling out



2 - the addition of the little angle aluminum reinforcements same as the track width of the car, to keep the plywood from bowing under the weight.

How long is the extension, is it actually a "1 thick or "3/4 and where did you get your hinge?

I did similar to Keith used the original
Flap hinge and used 3/4 ply under 1/4” aluminum diamond plate. Approx 2’ width. Still had to put 4x6 blocks under the rubber bumpers when unloading car to maintain angle
It made the door too heavy for the springs I managed for 13 years or so last year I took it off and shortened as I got tired of busting my ass trying to shut the door
I am on the hunt for race ramps I think they are the easier option

It's a full 1" thick (the aluminum diamond plate is super thin and just for appearance. Flap is 77" x 16"; piano hinge is 6 ft (72") and came with the trailer.

It is a 24 ft Haulmark, and was bare plywood inside. I trimmed it out as you see it here.

I just wanted to avoid the ramps $ and another thing to trip over.

I guess I just need one of my 6 children or their spouses to finally help. LOL
