I don't want to derail the thread to much but I have always been confused on the physics of how the bar loaded weight distribution hitch take shifts the weight as both it and a standard hitch all attach to the ball in the receiver on the frame. Same ball can be used for a regular hitch without the side bars.

Want a wild ride try hauling your car on a short utility trailer with a short wheelbase old original 80's Bronco!

The bars are not attached to the ball.
The bars attach to the hitch part which is attached to the frame of the tow vehicle basically.

The bars are a lever basically attached to the trailer frame and tow vehicle frame.
