Default Steering Box Question

I've got a manual steering box. The car has been sitting for 30 years. I'm wondering if I should change the oil in the box. Any opinions on this?

OR does this 71 manual box take chassis grease? Should I just make sure its full of grease??

It's like a 10-60 lubricant.

Okay-- I had seen that in my service manual but what is "water resistant FP grease"? Is it chassis lube?

No, it's more like rear-end grease, just not as thick.

EP is Extreme Pressure rating.

Probably whatever you use in your manual trans will work fine.
Maybe inquire to a place that rebuilds manual steering boxes about their recommendation.

Default PICTURES OF LAUERNTIAN GREEN 70-72

I am considering painting my car Laurentian Green instead of the original Starlight Black. Any one have pictures of a Lemans or GTO in Lauerntian Green?

You can go to www.ultimategto.com and use a dream car option that will show you all the 71's on their site that are Lauren Green.
About 16 or 17 across all nameplates and body styles that color.

You have one of the top color combos for a 71 GT-37
But its your choice

Default wheels and front suspension

Got the A-Arm bushings put in along with lower ball joints and re-assembled the front suspension with new springs...Glad that's done! Need to repair the radiator support but that should not be too big a deal for a welder. Also got my wheels painted and clear coated...

Next to drain the oil out of the new engine. It seems to be pretty healthy according to video I saw and the previous owner, but I am going to pull the pan and replace main and rod bearings while they are accessible...That way I'll know what I've got. *

Oooh...That must be a plastic cover around it. I've never seen one with a cover but looking on ebay I see they sell them with covers. THANKS!

Good question: I don't see evidence on the engine and I think the guy I bought it from told me no oil leaks... On a Pontiac motor can you replace the rear seal without removing the crank?
