Goodyear Polyglas thin white wall G70-14 tires
What dates do the DOT numbers of these two Goodyear Polyglas thin white wall G70-14 tires translate to?
PFLF DMA077 & PFLF DMA097. C13L also noted. Tires have not been cleaned and the pictures show how they look currently. Both tires show some age but have no obvious cracking on the sidewalls. Treads appear to be evenly worn and the tires have seen little road use but I did not measure the depth yet. Both seem to hold air. Custom Wide Tread, Load Range B. Tread 4 plies (2 polyester cord and 2 fiberglass cord) Sidewall 2 plies (polyester cord) Tires are mounted on two original paint very early JL 14x6 Rally II wheels dated July 2 1969. No trim rings installed but some rash visible from where they used to be. Planned to keep and not certain I would sell but these would make a great spare for the right November or earlier, 1970 GTO. |

I'll take a stab at it.
PFLF could be the Goodyear DOT date code/Plant of Manufacture. P - 1970 F - March L F - Freeport C13L - could be March 13 My Goodyear chart doesn't say what the L stands for

I was thinking the DMA077 & DMA097 were dates from 1977. Seems odd that a late 69 rim would have an early 1970 tire but never know what happened over the years. |

IIRC by sometime in the early 70s, a version of the current DOT format was being used. Before then, each manufacturer had their own coding for the tire date and manufacturing plant

Wow that tire needed a lot of weight for balancing. And those weights are probably lead.
