What you've uncovered so far looks great. Any soft spots detected under the Cordova top?

Top has a few silver dollar size bubbling spots
Nothing I am too concerned about I hope to have 80% of the car stripped to bare metal this weekend and I will know more for sure |

That's good. Someone had done a good job of hiding it on mine but I wound up replacing practically the entire roof when I stripped it down.

Wonderful that you're on to #3! I'm sure this one will be just as gorgeous!
If you've decided to retain the S-2 combo, I'll throw in a vote to keep the strato-bench and column shift too. Kind of goes with the aesthetic (vinyl top, and can I assume A/C, several power options?). I have both bench and buckets, column and floor shift, auto and manual cars. I love all of them for varying reasons. Seems to me it would be fun to keep it 100% original if you're committed to the S-2 path. Just my 2 cents.

All the parts to restore the chassis are in
Getting ready to pull the body from the frame soon. No real car progress but spent a day fabricating a body cart. I hope to have the body off the frame this weekend |

Did you make that body cart?

Yep spent a day buying square tubing, cutting and welding and of course I had to paint it! Haha!

Nice cart! The mini rotisserie I made with 2 spare engine stands was the best thing I did while working on my chassis. It made priming, sanding and painting my frame a breeze.

Yeah, I like it. I'm still holding on to the hope that I'll actually start a restoration of my '66 one day. Every year that I think is going to be the year, some other car jumps in front of it.

Separated the body from the frame today.
The frame is solid with no rust issues. Even all the body mount holes are perfect. I removed the rug and sound deading. The floors are just about perfect with the factory paint still there too Removed the vinyl top and minimum surface rust. Going to remove front windshield and back glass tomorrow and hoping for rust free window channels. |

That garage is perfect. Room for the body and frame. And all the boxed shelving to separate parts.

I agree
I was going to ask my landlord if I could get rid of The shelving to make more room but once I started using it it’s very convenient. |

Check the rear front lower control arm mounts for cracks - notorious area!
I reinforced the welds on my 71's frame in that area and others. Also, I was a fool and did not check the dimensions with the bare frame; the front passenger horn was bent. Much easier to repair nekkid than with all the sheet metal! |
