Instead of messing with the intake, use the correct flange gasket.
Pontiac flange gaskets for Pontiac Quadrajets, to the left 1970-74, to the right 1975-79.

FWIW
If you look at the pictures Ive posted of my HO intake ( first post), then add Dave's CNC program through the intake, then Ill weld a 1/8" divider plate back in.

After that I top it off with a 3/4" thick Nitrous plate which is essentially a spreadbore open space with spray bars.

I will end up making my own gaskets.

Sooooo, i put a divider in a lightly ported Torker I, couplea decades ago. Drove around, checked a month later and found it sucked into Runner #8.

If ya do any such divider install, go thick on the gauge, and trap it on all edges, real good.

Its funny I thought of that...what if it flies away? lol I remember when I was epoxying Turtles down at the bottom of single plane plenums on Mopars...

My plan its to cut a groove on the 3 faces using my milling, so the divider gets press fitted in place and then tig weld it in place. If it flies away...Ill buy a lottery ticket.
