Because the Tooley is a brand new casting and the basic Bottom Feed passage is cast into the intake, I suppose (with enough dyno time) you could get the thing to run well on a Drag Racing Package. Our efforts were for a broad performance curve on a smaller engine and we could not get rid of the "Happy Here but Bad There" tuning in the intakes we tried.
But a Intake design DID work (for John Mahovitz on his specific combination) very well at the rpm he was running. Good Luck. Tom V.

How's this work out by splitting off right at the throttle body to feed both sides ?

The dual inlet intake. In my experience, you would have two great air flow ports and the rest of the 6 ports would be pig rich and starving for air.
This Hogan Intake Bottom Feed manifold does a few things: The Throttle Body is angled toward the floor in the first few inches of the "Bottom Plenum". That starts the air flowing on the floor and banging into the rear wall of the Lower Plenum Then the air is forced upward vertically where it bangs off a flat roof and loses even more energy. Then it makes the turn back towards the individual runners, by now having almost all of the velocity gone and just high density air. Bet it worked great. Tom V.

You should talk to TAFF a bit about his experiences with that subject.
He runs a Boosted Engine with most of the center divider removed in his cylinder head and no divider in his intake manifold, so basically his runner is from the head bolt boss to the valve seat and he runs great with that design. Now on a Naturally Aspirated intake (with a big runner/taper) (Think the 2nd Gen Wenzler TR intake) you can have too much taper vs a normal Pontiac intake port dimension. Lazy gas speeds. Have seen people use "Stuffing Blocks" inside the runners to reduce the volume and get the runner tuning right. But a boosted engine, my opinion, plenum design a lot more important vs the runner taper. Tom V.

Bringing that topic from 2017-2018 back to the top.
I ran across some pictures of the design. I will post a few occasionally Tom V. By the way the slotted feed intake manifold design (second pic) did not work as far as even air distribution to the cylinders. Audi tried the same design and it was poor also.

I did not post up the upper section of the plenum that is normally attached to the posted lower section.
The upper section is a "flat box" cover that distributes the air from the lower vertical inlet tube evenly across ALL of the Runner inlets. Maybe I can find a picture of the upper section in my files. Could not find a cad drawing of the upper plenum "box" but have attached a photo of a similar HOGAN intake plenum. Hogan has a reputation for building intakes that work well. Tom V.
