The motor I let my buddy borrow for his 65-4-door malibu
makes 624 HP and 598 TQ with speedmaster heads.
Runs 6:90's in the 1/8 at 99 mph 28 tire and 4:10 gears.
I did a litle clean up I figure they flow around 318-320.
He drives the car al over the place and with a wenzler
and two 750 carters. Not bad on gas either.
Hope this helps Scipy.

it is a howards sourced from Rany Repp as he had them in stock at the time. part number 414495-10
373/377 lobe 236/242 on a 106. we advanced it 2* to try and get some bottom end out of it. seems to like it. If we had good rods probably would have gone in it at 106. We had a ton of PV clearance with the trws and 1.66 exhaust valve at 615ish gross lift. it seems to be fine on 89 octane too, but if its getting beat it will get 93 for sure.

DISCLAIMER:::::::::::: Randy did not spec this choice, this was ours, (mostly my buddies lol) and he went bigger than Randy suggested upon becoming aware of our engine hardware. Basically choose wisely, get what you want but be aware there are ''risks" you may be unwilling to take

I finally got my engine running with the speedmasters i picked up around 2018. So far so good. it's been 3 days since breakin.

couple things I did

1. I smoothed the sharp edges in ports.
2. I honed the valve guides some as they seem to tight to me with a 11/32 ball hone. tThe exhaust needed it the most.
3. i removed the spring on the exhaust guide seals to promote better oiling
4. I bought the pushrod Guide plates and rocker studs 7/16 by 2.3" from speed master
5. I bought a 3/4NPT brass plug and 3/4NPT - 5/8 host fitting for rear holes. I also installed a 5/8 nylon spacer with 1/4 hole to block flow to heater core.
6. I bought a .060" spring locator from comp and set spring install hieght to 1.8 on all springs.
7. I needed to buy ARP head bolts that fit Edelbrock heads. 190-3605
8. I bought 9.85" pushrods with ristrictors in them from smithbrothers as i'm running a crower SFT 60311 and 1.65 scorpion roller rockers.
9. i bought a set of Dougs headers for the install.

They were installed on a 69 428 with a HSD intake i opened to RAIV height.
I plan to try a holley 3BBL on this build, but for right now i'm running an older holley 780cfm vacuum secondary

How’s it sound any video? Is it driveable yet? We built a 400 combo w the speed master out of the box w victor2 no track results yet but the car is so much fun to drive in the street. It just got shipped to my buddy’s new place in florida which is about 15 minutes from
Bradenton. He will hit track soon after new year I would guess.

Quick Video, I still need to fully dial in the carb. I have not completely put my foot into it yet, but power picks up pretty substantailly around 3.5-4k rpm. The redline is planned for 6k on this engine.
