I wish those DAPA Nationals would make a come back. I haven't raced at the Motorplex yet but met Steve C's friend that races the Pontiac powered Fairmont there last April at a private track rental. He was crew chief'ing for a fast Fox body Mustang. We also met up with Jim Robertson at Extreme Dragstrip shortly before Norwalk to watch his Bad Fast TA make a couple of passes and show case his 96 d-ports making more than 800 HP NA. I always enjoy watching Tom and Sharon race. They are good at what they do. One has to stay on a realistic budget to survive this hobby and enjoy it. |

Sweet build!
On the show bar, did you use a template to trim the interior panels? Curious how you went about doing that. Also curious about how you trimmed out the panel holes, did you use vacuum line slit lengthwise? .

Thanks.... I suggested to the gentleman I purchased the roll bar from, we swap out our interior panels. I have no idea how he trimmed them but thought he did a stellar job. This was the third time he installed one of these bars.... He really wanted to redo the holes in the panels but I talked him out of it. Last edited by PAUL K; 10-06-2022 at 10:34 PM. |

I had gotten mine cut really close and even at one point, and wanted to change my interior panels, since the ones I had got pretty beat up. So I cut the section out with the hole in it and use it as a template.
I like the welting used, what's the source for that? I had used vacuum line slit lengthwise which looked pretty good, but like the welting idea much better. EDIT: I pulled mine out and polished it up really good, am the original owner, bought new when available, and it's in great shape. Doing an interior color change, so will need to cut my new panels, will try to do the welting this time... .

Built a rear deck out of MDF, with a 10" sub box, should sound pretty good.
I will start a build thread once it comes back from paint.... .

There is Vintage Drags at Little River tomorrow.
http://littleriverdragway.com/ Skip, John met Paul at Ennis when they were testing Ralph's Mustang, he wrenches and makes the decisions on the nitrous tune up. It ran a 4.58 in the 1/8 at 151 mph that day. Last weekend he was up there testing a '72 Nova, another small tire car that will probably run 4.70's. He works on both of these cars out of his shop. .

Yeah, I realize I'm lucky to have got one new! The chrome on it is a thick, show-chrome that I wish I could get bumpers done like! There's one minor scratch on it, not thru the chrome, and you would have to stare at it to see it, so lucky in that respect too. I trimmed the mounting pads where it attaches to the rocker area, and was able to trim the carpet to hug the tube. I had some welting on the carpet there before, but used a crappy type that would pop off sometimes. This time I think I'm just going to have some carpet edge sewn on it, see how that looks/works. Thanks for comment on project, as soon as I get it back from paint will start a thread. One cool thing I found along the way was a billet shaker scoop grill, did a test fit on the 70-76 scoop I have, and it fits great. They (Resto-a-Muscle Car) do make one for later years as well, but here it the link to the 70-76 one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/313250325679 Could probably go right to the Resto-a-Muscle Car's website and buy it too, not sure. ID67goat - Nice, thanks for the link! I will drill down on options there. Never thought to look there for the trim, was going to start looking at upholstery shops or suppliers. .
