I'll agree ev vehicles have their place for certain people in certain situations. But to try to eliminate ice vehicles off the market when we are no where near ready for that is ludicrous. Other states are saying they're going to change to the same mentality on this as California. There's no well thought out plan for this whole switchover but we'll steam full ahead anyways? General Thinking like this has not gone well throughout history. Also it's just not Hoovie guy that came to that conclusion,,other magazines did their test and said basically the same thing.
Head of Toyota even agrees.

We want to make money so we sell cars and trucks to a Oxen & Cart society and then we complain when the people "run" with the idea and the Emissions levels of the country go crazy. (Example China). At one time only the very rich had cars or Trucks (in the case of the military or very wealthy companies). Same concept as the Ford Model A vs the Ford GT-40 Race Car. We are constantly shooting ourselves in the Foot, Butt, etc. Tom V.

As for the Hummer tail lights, that reminds me of when I had my wifes Boxster in for service once and I was looking at the $445.000 Porsche GT in the showroom. The salesman was telling me how great the brakes were. I think they have ceramic rotors. Anyway, he said a brake job on the car cost $40,000!!! LOL.

If you can afford a 150K Hummer EV fully equipped, a 6K taillight is no big deal. Your insurance company will be paying for it in an accident and the warranty will cover it for 3 years, I guess. People just pay for this stuff and don't really seem to care. I put $4500.00 worth of 4 shocks on a Lexus LS460 F Sport AWD. Only available from the dealer for AWD and the customer didn't say a thing. Put a $1600.00 HID headlight module in a 5 series BMW. Again, no big deal to these high rollers. Needed to replace a drivers door handle on a BMW X5 last winter. By the time I had the handle painted and the parts bought it was a 1300.00 repair. I drive a $500.00 Dodge Neon as a daily driver. It's a pile of crap that gets me everywhere I need to go. Most people have other ideas of what they NEED!

the shock system on that Lexus LS 460 F Sport AWD sounds similar to the shock system on our older 4Runner Sport. Shocks with hydraulic lines running to them/stability control, etc. The system in the 4 Runner has held up fine, ton of miles.

I've been seeing more and more stories pop up here and there about ev trucks not faring well when it comes to doing any type of work and road miles range,,,which is what a truck is for . I haven't seen any plowing snow all night at 20 degrees stories yet,,,I can't imagine it will be good. I guess if you've got to go to lowes and pick up a few 2x4s your all set. Or maybe take your car and have them sticking out of the window like we've seen.

I pay for my Lawn Care and Snow removal. 5.5 acres (Not Forrest Gump on a lawn tractor for me. Same deal with Snow Removal. Driveway is 193+ feet from the road, not 30 feet. I have better things to do on car projects vs snow removal.
So for me it does not matter if the Lawn Mower/ Snow Plow is gas or battery powered. Got that suggestion from Mr Palbykin. Tom V.

They buy the best on the block and their stuff will never be banned in Michigan. (Michigan is NOT California). But that is their deal. They bill me each month and all is good. So I have fish in the lake, an Orchard (apple, cherry, peach) on the back 1 acre for good soil management, Deer and Canadian Geese on the property throughout the year. The property has a Generac back-up electrical generator system powered by natural gas. The source will never go away. So if the tree huggers want to ban gas vehicles in California, that is their deal. My deal will be just fine. That being said, there was a nice article in the Detroit Free Press yesterday about electric vehicles. A New F-150 truck build for a job work site with lots of construction power capability that gets 285 miles on a charge. A ladies older Chevy Volt that she bought new that got and still gets 38 mpc (miles per charge) before a recharge. Just saying. Move to Michigan if you don't like California. Tom V.

I was talking with a neighbor last week that just bought a new Ford Lightning. His was the high end model, Platinum if thats what they call it. All the bells and whistles, extended battery and such. Beautiful truck, if I hit the lottery I would be in line. However the $110k price tag will keep me away forever! Im pushing 60 now, and I get a new to me truck every 10yrs or so. Last year this time I paid $20k for the current one and if statistics are close I may be getting one more. I can put the extra $80k or so I will save away for something else. Financially it makes zero sense to me.
As far as towing, he has not towed with his, but has taken a few mid range trips. Said it had more power than his Silverado he traded in. Had a phone app to show cost and to date he had 'spent around $30 in charge fees. Said it was something like $3 to fully charge it. The drastic change in the range from the op's video is not a surprise. I have that same range finder on my gas f150. When I fill up its something like 500+ miles to E. Seems for every mile I drive 1-1/2 comes off the range. Close but not accurate. |

I have a customer that retired from Westinghouse about five years ago. He's one of the engineers that worked on the electric train system that was battery powered. He says we simply do not have the battery technology yet. He worked on the Magleve project. He says the issue is the tires, there is too much resistance. He said you would be so surprised at how easy it is to push a railroad train car because of the steel wheels. So they decided to try the magnetic system.
The other issue that I never hear about is how dangerous the cars are. I'm thinking one of those cars would go up like a stick of fresh dynomite LOL. |
