Default Tried the Lunati 271/278 cam. Went faster.

I'm sure some of you have seen my posts on making changes on my car and going nowhere. Well I had a front timing cover leak and while I had it apart I figured I'd put the Lunati 271/278 @ .050 solid roller in. Installed it at 106 ICL. 108 LSA. Also put some 1.72 rockers on which gives me close to .700 lift. I doubt putting the 1.72's on the Jones cam would have made much difference. Went to Muncie Friday night for a test n tune but only got one pass. Was supposed to be from 6 to 10 but they quit it around 8 because of a gamblers race. That sucked. Anyway it ran faster but spun a little on the line. Pulled really hard on the top end. Need to get the 60 ft down. One image is from old timeslip with Jones cam and other with Lunati cam. Car just feels lighter with the Lunati cam.

I have one ran in several combos, ported iron heads and eheads. Always performed well. In a conversation with Butler many years ago he called it the “old stand by cam” .

The Keens ran a 276/282 @ .050 / .740 lift camshaft with their Supercharger engine in 1998 in a 347 cid engine and loved it.
Best MPH at the time with the car.

So the only difference, in the different engines, was they ran their engine a higher rpm and with boost vs NA and a much larger engine
for JC's engine. Cam is just letting the engine breathe properly. If designed correctly.

Nice increase from a cam swap. Did you change the valve springs at the same time? I have very good luck with an old Lunatic grind as well.

This is a new converter. 4800 stall from Perfect Converter Co.

Scott,
No. Same converter. Only thing I changed was the cam and rockers. Kept everything else the same. Didnt even touch the carb.

That car should 60 foot in in the 1.4's and with that MPH it should run around 10.5's
