Felt great! A few of the track guys were surprised how hard the car was leaving!

There will always be a trade-off between improved 60' and short times vs being coupled tighter on the run and applying more power to the track for the rest of the run.
I tested and helped develop higher stall versions of the Continental 10" unit and found out exactly what you are. I was using 28" tall tires and 3.42 gears when the converter testing was done. I saw improvements in the launch and 60' times but fell off a tad in MPH on the top end. I was also seeing higher RPM's on top end. The really "loose" versions I tested didn't work well at all with 3.42 gears and it felt like the trans was actually slipping on the run (sound familiar?). RPM's stayed really high and I could no longer feel the shifts either. So basically up against 3.42 gears I was not able to see the benefits of higher flash stall and leaving harder on the time slips. I really needed to change to taller rear gears in conjunction with the converter changes to get the engine up to the shift point quicker and spend more time at high RPM's on the run vs "lugging" the engine as much at lower RPM's. Higher RPM's also help "lock-up" the looser converters which also improved both ET and MPH with them..........

Continental was a 3200 vs a 3800? (which I think is actually lower) UCC 3700lbs (need to reweigh)

It will be interesting how the Continental performs once again with another combination of parts. It has been behind 4 different 455's from a iron headed mild 375hp to the current engine. It has also been used with a 308,342 and soon a 373 rear..its amazing how it works well every time. Maybe I should start another thread when I swap the trusty old convertor in.

Yes even if there is issues as long as there is progress. A guy at the track said to my niece..he has that street car dialed in...She told the guy..he is still pissed off at it..its off.

That cam going to want to make peak torque at around 3500 Pontiac’s like tight convertor, as a rule. So The continental even though it’s 3200 it’s going to lock up around 3500. Were as the UCC being 3800 probably locking up around 4000. Probably what your feeling.
I’ve run those cam specs that’s awesome cam.

Going to interesting see if you pick up anything with Continental converter, it’s a tough call. Sounds like it’ll definitely be tighter.

I'd have to check with Dave Bisschop I would guess peak torque is around 4500rpm.

Ok, I was looking at duration, now that took second look I see the lube and what the lift is, works out to be, Yeah 4500. The cam with same specs, I ran ( same duration on 112 ) had no were near that lift.

Id agree couple hundred one way or the other from 4500rpm.

Ya it has a little bit of lift...that is what makes it a real pussy cat car to drive..mild duration good compression but good lift.

645/660, if my numbers are right…yeah that’s allot. For some reason in my mind I’m think with that duration little hyd cam, maybe 520 lift, don’t mine me. Really nice combo. So its a hyd roller.
