1962 Catalina courtesy light door jamb switch location
After sitting inside for about 15 years, it's time for me to get started on my Catalina again. I want to add Courtesy Lights so when you open the door they come on but I'll be darn if I can find out where the door jamb switches mount. Can anyone post a pic of where the door jamb switches mount? Since the windows were kept closed at least the interior still looks good.

Front door jamb, there’s a silver bezel with a black button sticking out of it.

You will have to remove the filler panel between the fender and the body to see it. With the door open the panel comes off after removing about 6 Philips screws

Goatracer1,
Thanks for that info. That's exactly what I was looking for. Once I got on my hands & knees and looked behind the filler panel I could see the hole for the courtesy light switch. Of course I feel like a complete Idiot now but at least I know where the switch goes. Now everything makes sense. |

mgarblik,
Thanks for that info. I realized I just messed up. I bought a door jamb switch for a 62 Pontiac and realized after it was for a 4 door. I don't know what the difference is between a 2 door & 4 door switch. I also found this switch on eBay for a Chevy door jamb switch. Is this what you used? https://www.ebay.com/itm/33072443189....c100667.m2042 The posted Picture is the one for a 62 Pontiac 4 door car but I have no idea what the difference is between a 2 Dr switch and a 4 Dr switch |

If I’m not wrong the 4 Dr front switch has provisions for a wire running to the back door switch. With a little work either can be made to work. In fact any switch that fits the hole can be made to work.

Goatracer1 & mgarblk,
Thanks for your feed back & input. It's greatly appreciated! I plan on getting on the Catalina real soon. I've collected all the parts needed to get my suspension installed but what got me to get serious on the car i found a NOS Ash Tray & Cigar Lighter lamp kit on eRape. My very first 62 Catalina had the light group option and I wanted it in my Current Catalina. I've been searching on & off for this since the year 2000. I found the door jamb switch on eRape also but got worried when I found it was for a 4DR car. Now that I know it doesn't matter I'm really anxious to get my Catalina finished. |
