I forgot to mention one other item-
> 7/16" screw-in studs rather than pinning 3/8" studs, to eliminate stud flex. I also adapted SBC roller rocker arms.

Mike, I'm running a pair of 73-74 GTO heads on the early block. They have chevy 7/16ths rocker studs, push rod guide plates and hardened seats--all from the factory. Pistons are Jahns with a "lump" on top to compensate for the big ol 90 sumthun CC heads. Seems to run strong and cool.
