Default Transmission fluid

What's the preferred transmission fluid for a drag race application? I've been using Type F fluid for years in my TH400. I just got my transmission back from the shop. They only recommended to run full synthetic fluid but didn't say Dextron or F . I heard Type F was a better fluid many years ago I have even heard of guys running John Deere hydraulic fluid but what's the consensus?

I run ATI super F. I know guys who run the JD with no issues.

In my Rossler 210XHD, I've used John-Deere-Hy-Gard-Transmission-and-Hydraulic-Oil-TY6354 and currently using TCI-950650 Max Shift Synthetic Transmission Fluid after having the converter tightened up.

I've heard the John Deere fluid tightens up the converter a little. Did you find this too?

Coan Transmission and I recommend AMSOIL Multi-Vehicle Spec ATF. Amazing stuff. Read all about it https://amsoilcontent.com/ams/lit/da...tins/g3110.pdf

This has been my understanding also. Run Type F. I just built my TH400 last summer and ran it with Type F. Pulled it apart this winter and it looked like new. I would love to try a new technology fluid but I'm wary of results. It's like don't fix something that's working. I realize that synthetic oils will handle the heat better, but clutches work on friction and they have to grab. I don't have enough experience to
experiment I guess. Maybe there's a reason ATI sells Type F fluid. http://www.atiracing.com/products/tr...rts/superf.htm

The Caterpillar TO-4 spec hydraulic oil works well too. Probably similar to the Hyguard but I've never used that.

When an old fluid like Type F works well on all parameters, then any/all new fluids can at best provide a marginal benefit, if any benefit can be measured.

I cannot imagine the price for Redline ATF.

Since the Price of Type F is high/Quart now, any lower-cost fluid ought be investigated.

I drained and changed filter and added B&H Trickshift to my 1970 TH400 in the 70 Grand Prix....seems to be working well

B&M Trickshift is type F with 10% synthetic type F. Been making my own for years.

Tough to tell, not enough consistent data at the time I tried it.
